Sneak Peak at Photoshop CS5

Sneak Peak at Photoshop CS5

DiggThis

Adobe is hard at work on the follow-up to their line of CS4 products. Just recently, they released a sneak-peak video of some of the experiments they’re working on. Needless to say, it’s incredible! It’s almost time to start filling the coin jar.

Though not specifically related to web development, the huge majority of us use Photoshop on a daily basis when designing – which makes this video more than applicable.

How Much Longer?

According to reports, the CS5 suite is expected to be released April 10, 2010.

    i’m sticking with CS3
i have an older machine with a fairly powerful video card, and i can’t run CS4’s 3D features, so CS5 is out of the question.

i agree with the comment about “…you can make it with MS Paint”
    i’m running CS3 and i’m still awesome.

so tru saw and tried cs4 it nice but to buy it for an interface change and some upgrades i’ll pass for now

  2. Leo Utskot says:

Am I the only one who so really anoyed by the voice of this guy? I had to start skiping after listening to his nasal-nerd monolog for 30 secs.

  3. JJ Spelman says:

Outstanding warping capabilities if they remain of the editing room floor!

The brush thing is OK – but I sometimes wonder why folks wish to take a photo and make it look hand painted. Art imitating life? Whatever…

  4. Wow another Photoshop. It seems like CS4 just came out.

  5. Stefan Frank says:

It is nothing really new to put a painting technology in it… BUT: It is wonderfull to use only one program and not switching from the slow Corel painter to PS and backwards.
There isnt any bad about the CS5 release. You dont have to buy it. But some people will welcome the new features.

I will buy it and you know what? I`m one of this person that would say: Dude this is awesome and easy. Then i will look on the price and will say: WOW!!! These are 10 products in one and if i would buy them instead of PS i would spend much more money on them.

I use PS as a texturizer for 3D Models, Photography, Matte Painting, scrabbles, web design, postworks etc. i can really use this 10 programs strong thing called Photoshop :) I`ve got CS2 and it was worth it. And this version would it be also…

I`m a designer and if i would use MSPaint – my customers would kick my bu** for the delayed outcome. But of course – why should i use a car if i could use a curricle :) It would be cheaper, better for the nature and i dont want to mention how individuell i would be.

It is decided! I will crash my equipment and use a greenscreen monitor with DOS. I`m a designer – so i dont have to use this fancy modern things :D Just me, my room-sized computer and my dot-matrix printer on my 56k modem. Hell yeah!

  6. SleepY says:

Just amazing….i can’t wait to use is

  7. Gerasimos says:

Great stuff but what about the web design world? yes it’s a photo editing software but they could push the envelope a bit for web professionals as well.

  8. Mukarram says:

Great….lots of interested features they are going to incorporate !

    Waiting for !!!

  9. wdct says:

As Adobe did in previous years, this is only a part of the new features in the next version of Photoshop. But as far as this video goes, I can see the direction the new features that will be added, and that’s a more artistic direction than in previous years.

  10. Matt Wood says:

Is anyone curious how neither this video, it’s author’s Youtube profile, nor the website where it was published are actually connected with Adobe Systems? This is not the first video claiming CS5 features, nor the first created by fans that claim to be the next version of CS5.

From the “cs5.org” site where this was published:
“Blog devoted to the Adobe CS5 (Adobe Creative Suite 5). Provides a summary of the Adobe CS5 – related prerelease and experimental technologies
    Contact us: adobe2011(at)gmail.com”

Jeffrey, you state that “they released a sneak-peak video” but in fact, Adobe is in no way connected with this video, nor the others that have popped up claiming to expose new features of the future release. In order to maintain credibility at Nettuts+ I believe a small disclaimer is needed in the situation. Otherwise, your site simply falls into the category of other “hype-based” rumor sites, like those seen in the Apple community.

    Thoughts anyone?

    Looks very nice!

  12. Sean O says:

    Erm, you mean Sneak *Peek*?

  13. Robin says:

Wow, CS5 already. I was about to get the CS4 suite soon but now I’m just going to stick with CS3. No use wasting money when the exchange rate in my country is $1US = $7TT. I already feel like crap after investing in Cinema 4d v11 in July and they release 11.5 in September.
    Thanks for the update though.

  14. Migatto says:

    Amazing… Unreal!

  15. Prionkor says:

I appreciate the new experiments and the have come up with really cool results. But i really think they should take their time to release new versions. least two year or more or decrease the prices.

Extreamly cool outcome though :) the new brush technique will help real life painters to switch to photoahop.

I always thought some features of After effects should included in photoshop. I think we got one here :) Nice worp tool.

I think i have to increase my ram before have it. I always like how adobe come up with whole new ideas. Thanks for sharing.

    Looks great!

If you guys come across any Fireworks CS5 “Lab” video’s please post them!
I’ve recently been converting myself to Fireworks CS4 for all my professional webdesign jobs and havent looked back at Photoshop since.

I can kinda see a trend evolving towards Fireworks at the design firm i work for since it really speeds things up. If any of the professionals here havent tried it yet, i really recommend it!

  17. S-tyle says:

    Adobe, always amazing us.. wow

  18. Dave says:

wow looks impressive. cant wait ’til its out and we can start using this stuff on design projects

  19. samuel says:

i don’t like those brushes improvements, photoshop is for image editing not for painting. Painter has all those improvements right now, so thats not a new technology like they say. They must concentrate in what the program does (image editing) and don’t try to emulate another specialized programs that are far away in their capabilities just to gain some money with new version of the same shit. Like the inclusion of “3D”, lol thats crap, for 3d i use 3d max.

Just think about it, why they don’t try to include crappy things like “advanced” vector manipulation. Because they own a program that does exactly that (illustrator) and they know illustrator is much better doing what it was made for.

And yes that new stuff on image editing is amazing and useful. But they need to do like 10 more improvements like that to release a new version.

  20. Speaking from a training provider, it is hard to keep up with the names, not the technology as that does not change too much. But if we say we are teaching CS4 and everyone knows CS5 is out, we then look dated. This puts pressure on us to update for almost no reason than to say 5 instead of 4.

    Tough call.

here is a link with more material about Photoshop and Flash CS5, including previews of:

    Photoshop:
    - Bone Tool
    - Content-Aware Scaling or some sort of coooooool trick
    - Shuffling

    Flash:
    - Physics
    - iPhone/iPod touch compatible…

  22. dextech says:

    woww…. it loooks coool

  23. Arron Dvies says:

I think you need a better picture, or maybe the guy who marks the football field needs more experience. this helps alot :)

  24. John says:

Cool, but the updated brush engine probably still won’t come close to Corel Painter.

I’d like to see some simple additions that would make website mockups easier… like being able to change the radius of a rectangle. Or being able to add a line to separate sides of a rectangle, just like you can in CSS.

Sure, Adobe has Fireworks, and it has some awesome features for web mockups. But it still lacks in so many ways, that i always come back to Photoshop.

  25. des- says:

can’t wait to have new photoshop ^^

  26. sanka says:

Think ill stick to my CS4 Master Collection for now

  27. How many times does he say “TECHNOLOGY”? He’s like Steve Jobs and his “INCREDIBLE”.
    “Incredibly” irritating.

    Btw, CS5 seems very nice.

  28. tom says:

wow how long has corel had this before adobe thought they needed it

  29. Fird says:

This seems insane. I’m worried that in the later days, there wouldn’t be any ‘real’ images anymore

  30. Matt says:

Another “cash grab” by Adobe by offering some new features that look cool but in reality will make no difference to your working day. What about fixing all the errors in the current version of the software instead of slugging us for another release?

  31. Raymond says:

Stupid. All I care about is Adobe fixing bugs and making the Mac versions work correctly. Make it 64 bit. Ditch the ancient legacy code. Don’t really care about smearing paint.

  32. Jared says:

When will the version of Photoshop that does all the work for you come out lol.

    Thanks for the updates!

  33. tol1k says:

    New Photoshop – new possibilities

  34. Greg says:

“CS5″ looks too much like “CSS” in some fonts.

    Just sayin.

  35. adam says:

artrage was doing for many years. this is sooo late..

  36. Russ says:

With everything Adobe puts out, they leave something broken that I used to use. It’s unfortunate that I rely on their products so much. I hate the arrogant company they have become.

  37. Ilyas says:

That is now a cool thing to get.

  38. FRKT says:

I swear if he says “technology” one more time I’ma hurt myself.

  39. mario says:

How about a real feature like a fix for installing CS3 on Snow Leopard? That would really be groundbreaking.

  40. Jessy says:

Corel is garbage and has let Painter rot. Hence, Photoshop needs better painting capability. You people are crazy.

  41. Sam says:

    Annoying man is annoying.

  42. psyKiss says:

I’m very positive that this is a fake clip for 3 reasons:

    1. The source is not reliable.
    2. The narrator is annoying.
    3. Their technology hinders the designers artistry!

But ill give them credit for fooling millions (even veteran designers).

    “Technology Technology, Technology Technology”

  43. i don’t think it was a fake
ive seen it on reliable web sites like photoshopcs5.co.uk

  44. Karyl says:

Omigod! I’m scared…I’m going to have to replace my computer!

  45. David says:

That’s nice, but I’m anxious to see more real features that will be used by those of us that use photoshop for work. I love the addition of more editing tools to camera raw with CS4, smart sharpen was cool, lets see some more stuff for working photographers! Especially things that improve speed and workflow. Hint: Camerabits Photo Mechanic still whoops bridge. Has a lot to do with the captioning and metadate tools(like replacement codes) which are very important nowadays to us folks. As the digital age continues forward deadlines are getting tighter all the time, so that stuff rocks.
I was quite interested in the new masking tool that is coming……….
