Are You Our Next Awesome Writer?

Are You Our Next Awesome Writer?

We’re in need of a kick-ass, talented author to help out on Nettuts+ on a regular basis, a Bieber fan preferably.

We’re not sticklers but we’d optimally like to see weekly and bi-weekly submissions from you. Do you have what it takes? This is a paid gig, so read on!

What You Need

  • A Ninja grasp of the subject matter: Nettuts+ is one of the biggest, most trusted web development blogs out there and this is built on quality content. You, as our author, will need to possess rock solid comprehension of what you’d like to write about.
  • Writing chops: You must be comfortable with the English language. We can proof your content but we can’t rewrite everything for you. If you struggle when deciding whether to write fewer or less, this might not be the gig for you.
  • Ability to stick to a schedule: We expect you to keep the schedule we’ve agreed upon. Be professional.

What You’ll Get

  • $150 per tutorial for the first month.
  • $200 per from the second month onwards, with a pay review after a year.
  • Option to submit to our premium program which pays significantly more.

So, assuming you submit an article a week, and one Premium tut/screencast per month, you can expect to make between $1100 – $1400 each month.

Excellent! Where Do I Sign Up?

We’ll need the following information from you:

  • Name.
  • A few sentences about yourselves.
  • A single link to an article that you’ve written, helped with or like. This is compulsory.
  • Two ideas for tutorials you’d like to write for us.
  • Emails with an optional tutorial as attachment will get more attention from us since this means you’re serious about the gig.
  • Preferential treatment (and higher pay) given to those who can record professional quality screencasts.

Please email this information to net[at]tutsplus.com.

We get a ton of single line emails. Don’t be that person. Emails without the requisite information will be discarded.

If you can’t manage a weekly/bi-weekly schedule, get in touch either way. I’m sure we can work something out!

Get cracking, ladies and gents! Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

    A couple of questions:

Is this a reminder of http://net.tutsplus.com/about/write-a-tutorial/ or a separate request? (e.g. I see that in this occasion you are referring to screencasts almost exclusively. Is this intended?).

By the way, are the topics you listed there (section “What, Specifically, to Write About”) updated?

    Regards

I thought this is the first time some comments will be deleted here :)

Although I probably wouldn’t qualify for *this* particular gig, I’m willing to review and test software and then write about that. I’m just not highly knowledgeable of web development, I’m kind of just a dabbler. I have a two year degree in web development, which I earned a few years ago.

It would be nice to hear women’s voices in such screen casts for once. But it would be even cooler to hear Hugh Laurie do a screen cast on here (with his House accent rather than his real life one.)

    • rizerzero

+ one for Hugh Laurie , would be Just perfect , i imagine also his teaching method would be like ” still Using Mysql ? You IDIOT jump to PDO ” ;)

How about writing under a pseudonym ? I am a very shy person.

Can I apply even if I’m minor ? I’m a 16 years old girl, English is my foreign language but I’m very comfortable with it . I’m still thinking about tuts ideas (I’m a huge fan of yours by the way). So is it possible to apply even if i’m minor ? =)
    Have a good day.

  • Aditya

Articles like “building responsive facebook/path style slide out menu” should be submitted on Net Tuts+ or on Mobile Tuts+

  • Ayah

    is it available now ?

  • Andy

Some one needs to do somethink as the content on here is getting old!! Is there a PHP OOP course? NO well why not?

Is there more premium tutorials on the way converting a PSD to HTML or Website from scratch then why not?

Jeff Way is enough on his own creating tutorials for this site but his tutorials are few and far between & over packed with helper tools not everyone wants to use.

This is not a lecture but comman sence…

  • Brandon

Will I hear back after you review the application, or only if I’m accepted?

  • http://www.joezimjs.com Joe Zim

I’ve sent two applications for a single tutorial and two applications for this full-timer gig and I haven’t even received an email informing me that I’m not what you’re looking for. A good deal of time went into preparing those emails and tutorials that I sent and I would at least like to be recognized for the effort.

    Please and Thank You.

  • Vishal

What is the typical time you would respond once I have applied via email?

  • Aniee

Hey , is this still Open ??

  • Ashish

I have submitted two tutorial for Zend Framework.

First one I have submitted on 14th May and did multiple follow up, but still didnt received any comments regarding acceptance or rejection.

Second one I have submitted on 23rd May and got response from Jeffrey Way with comments “Looks good! We’ll get this up in early June! :)”. But still no update has been made regarding this too.

I would at least like to be recognized for the effort.

    Thanks!
