Calling All Bleeding Edge HTML5 Devs

Calling All Bleeding Edge HTML5 Devs

Hey, everyone. The next big category from our popular sister-coding-marketplace, CodeCanyon, will be for HTML5 “apps” — some might call them web stacks. This category will feature everything from advanced to-do lists with offline support, to advanced video, to presentation apps, to even games; all built with HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.

I’m looking to commission some incredibly talented, cutting-edge developers to help me fill the category for launch. If this appeals to you, please leave a comment, or email sitemanager[AT]codecanyon.net to discuss things further. When you do, please include samples of your work, and, for bonus points, an item idea that you personally think will sell quite well in the community. This is a paid gig.

Note: Want to add some source code? Type <pre><code> before it and </code></pre> after it. Find out more

Is this a call for those developers of AJAX and more, or also for those who code thinking in UX, usability, et cetera, taking in care semantics of web development ?

    Hi Jaffery,

There is a very good resource from where you can spot the right person i.e. Smashing Magazine.

Smashing Magazine has just announced the result of their “HTML5 CSS3″ contest (http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2010/07/12/css3-design-contest-results/). You can see the work of candidates and select the best one you like.

Awesome… I’ve been playing a bit with HTML5, but haven’t dived right into it yet for the pure fact that it’s not supported wide enough.
But if there’s a place to make and sell HTML5 based stuff… that’s gonna stoke the fire!

    Hi,

Just wanted to ask a few questions about this,

    1. Because webkit is so far ahead with HTML 5 specification how do you want to handle IE8 and IE7 ?

    2. Because Firefox have said they aren’t going to support Sqlite can we use Google gears in our project to support other browsers for database entry ?

    3. When you talk about apps, exactly what do you mean ? are we talking 280slides style apps (built with Objective J and Cappuccino) ?

    4. Can we have server side code included in our projects ?

    5. Can we have OS and browser specific solutions ? (eg: Iphone webapp)

I’m certainly interested my self in doing some apps, I love coding HTML 5 and have used it in IPhone apps with phonegap recently as well as on my new site which should be going live early next week.

Even Google isn’t supporting Gears anymore. http://gearsblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/hello-html5.html

      • http://mrkdevelopment.com.au Matthew

Hi Bill, did you read this article ? I dont think you did,

“We realize there is not yet a simple, comprehensive way to take your Gears-enabled application and move it (and your entire userbase) over to a standards-based approach. We will continue to support Gears until such a migration is more feasible, but this support will be necessarily constrained in scope.”

Gears is supported untill we can migrate or another such time, as a result we can use it in Firefox and it is the only way we will ever be able to have SQLite according to this post from Mozilla,

        http://hacks.mozilla.org/2010/06/beyond-html5-database-apis-and-the-road-to-indexeddb/

This is a big concern I think for HTML5 developers.

I’m in very late stage of finishing my HTML5 web app. Works well in Chrome and FF 4. In this stage I am doing all for FF 3.6 support. Jeff should I contact you for details? I am able to provide short screencast. I think my HTML5 app will be very usefull to any webmaster working with modern browsers. Definetely the flash killer.

I’m working a lot with HTML 5, CSS 3 and jQuery at the moment on Web Sticky Notes – read more and try a demo here:

    http://www.stevefenton.co.uk/Content/Web-Sticky-Notes/

Incidentally, my website has been HTML 5 since 2009 and I ran a big browser test to see what kind of support there was for HTML 5 back in July 2009.

    http://www.stevefenton.co.uk/Content/Blog/Date/200907/Blog/HTML-5-Browser-Test/

As far as ideas go, I think there is space for a library that makes some of the new HTML 5 features a bit easier in the hand of developers, but if you’re looking for fully fledged application then perhaps revisiting the web-stats UI field is the way to go. Most of the applications that read your HTTP logs and display your traffic stats are both damn-slow and damn-ugly and new world HTML could solve these problems.
