Free Ticket to the jQuery Conference in San Francisco

Free Ticket to the jQuery Conference in San Francisco

On April 24-25, I’ll be attending the jQuery conference in San Francisco, and I hope many of you will as well! With speakers like John Resig, Steve Souders, Rey Bango, and other highly respected members from the jQuery team, it’s sure to be a fantastic event! Now, if you haven’t purchased your ticket just yet, the team has given me one ticket to give away for free.

“The San Francisco Bay Area conference is the second of four events planned by the jQuery Project in 2010. The first was the jQuery14 event, and additional conferences are being planned in Europe and on the East Coast for later this year.”

jQuery Conference

Hosted at Microsoft

“The San Francisco Bay Area conference will be held at the Microsoft Silicon Valley Research Center in Mountain View, California. This venue is the largest that the project has worked with to date (Harvard Law School in ’07, the MIT Stata Center in ’08 and Microsoft New England Research Center in ’09) and we expect to sell out very quickly.”

How to Enter

The winner will receive one complimentary ticket to attend the jQuery conference. He or she will still be responsible for accommodations, and/or travel expenses, per usual. If you’re in or near the Bay area of San Francisco, and would LOVE to attend, leave a comment of no more than three sentences telling us why.

If you aren’t selected to win the free ticket, admission is only $199, which is quite cheap when you consider the level of knowledge that you’ll gain as a result of attending.

I’ll be attending, and will hope to see you there! Will you be going?

Would love to attend, now to figure out a way to get my wife to understand me leaving for a conference two weeks before our son’s due date…

  2. Chris says:

    Hey Jeff,

Heres my best attempt at humor…

    if( $(‘#the_ticket’).is(‘#mine’) )
    $(‘#Jeff’).has(‘.new_best_friend’);

Either way. Great site. I’ve learned a lot from the tutorials.

    Cheers,
    Chris

too bad I live on the east coast side!

  4. Miles France says:

I would pay for this and come but Uncle Sam is going to take lots of my money in April. A free ticket would make this much more affordable. I love Jquery and use it in combination with Drupal all the time.

  5. Vicky says:

I would jump on the very first flight to SFO and make sure I soak it all up. I love JQuery and use it daily in my webdesign business. I love the creativity and the challenges. Why should I get the ticket? Why not!

  6. Julie Knowles says:

I would love to attend because it would allow me to visit with my parents and I’m already attending DrupalCon up there. I can tack this on and have a full week of learning….YAY!!

    • Julie says:

Sorry, there is a duplicate below. I saw the moderation comment and thought maybe it was an issue with my browser, so I tried with Chrome instead of FF. Just wanted to let you know!

  7. Jason Barry says:

I am a Junior at Santa Clara University and will be the first Web Design & Engineering major to graduate. I want to attend this conference because I’m looking forward to learning how to make my code look pretty and run at blazing speeds.

  8. Ezequiel says:

As the great astronomer Carl Sagan once said, “Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.” The jQuery conference should prove to exhilarate and embody those very words. Somewhere I would’ve only dreamt of going to. Have fun!

  9. I don’t know JQuery, But I wouldn’t mind taking that pass off your hands.

  10. Wendi says:

I would love to see the latest ad greatest on JQuery. It is a huge time-saver. Keeping up to date is a must in web development

  11. I would love to attend a conference in San Francisco. I have never been to a conference and think it would be a great way to network. Conferences present an interesting challenge to learn what is new.

  12. Susan says:

    Because jQuery is FUN!

  13. My website would suck without jQuery. I am young web developer, just starting out as such, I don’t have any money to attend conferences like this one. It would be a huge opportunity for me to meet some new people, and spend a few days in my favorite city in the world. Plus, I live in Socal, and it’s way too hot. I could use a cold foggy day in the city.

  14. Julie says:

I would love to attend because not only would it allow me to visit with my parents, but I’m already attending DrupalCon up there. I’m also currently unemployed and both DrupalCon and this jQuery conference are skills that would help me land the job I’m currently after. One full week of learning and training would be great…YAY!!

  15. fontburger says:

I live in San Francisco and I work at Ames in Mountain View, pretty much down the street from Microsoft (FYI the Microsoft shuttle is way cooler then ours). I am a graphic designer whose is just beginning the journey of becoming a web designer. So pick me so I can go to the conference with my friend @ryanolson and I can gain some knowledge.

  16. Dodie says:

I am a young, growing web developer yearning to learn more. One of the first things about web dev I learned (even bofore JavaScript) was jQuery. And really, for me, $199 is very expensive.

  17. sed says:

This looks like a wonderful shared experience where a newbie like myself can both learn and become inspired by the events of the day. Being able to attend the jQuery Conference would be a warmly appreciated opportunity. And by my being so close to Mountain View– only the Bay Bridge and a ticket would stand in my way. Thanks for the offer.

  18. Raul Tabares says:

I’m a recent college graduate and money is tight, but free tickets would help out a lot. Web development is passion and this will only feel like heaven once I’m there.

  19. Colleen Dick says:

I’m an old school DBA type career changer who needs this sort of transfusion to kick me completely over onto the frontend. I don’t know anyone in jQuery development, dying (literally) to meet people. I’m loving jQuery and it would accelerate the ** out of my learning.

  20. Juan C. Rois says:

Hey Jeff, just have one question. When will the winner be announced?
    Thanks

What better way to describe how much I’d want to go, than in a haiku?

    jquery is nice
    the javascript it is good
    I think it’s ready

It’s too far for me to attend though, so don’t actually count this as an entry. I just wanted an excuse to haiku. :P

  34. Carlos says:

I guess I am disqualified for not living in or near the bay area. I live 2 states away.

I would love a ticket to this event I have been working with jquery for about a year now and this would definitely help take my skills to the next level. As a Junior Web Developer trying to excel in the Web Development industry I find I’m constantly trying to prove myself. jQuery has improved the quality of my work more than any other technology I’ve used in the past several years. I would love to attend the conference and gain even more knowledge to enrich my career!

  46. Adam says:

Although I am really eager to sharpen my knowledge with JQuery by going to this conference (right across the bridge from me) I see plenty of passionate folks on here more deserving than me. Good luck to the winners!
