Friday Freebies: Object-Oriented Javascript

Friday Freebies: Object-Oriented Javascript

Packt Publishing has once again generously offered a few copies of the recently released “Object Oriented Javascript”, by Stoyan Stefanov (@stoyanstefanov). After finishing the book last weekend, I can promise you that it’s one of my favorite web development books. Stoyan does a fantastic job of making Javascript seem attainable. So without further ado, leave a comment to be automatically entered to win one of three copies.

How Do I Enter?

Quite simply. Follow one, or ALL, of the following Twitter accounts.

  1. Nettuts+
  2. Stoyan Stefanov
  3. Packt Publishing

Next, leave your Twitter username within this page’s comments. That’s all! We’ll take care of the rest.

Once listed in the “nice to have” sections of job postings, these days the knowledge of JavaScript is a deciding factor when it comes to hiring web developers. And rightly so. Where in the past we used to have the occasional few lines of JavaScript embedded in a web page, now we have advanced libraries and extensible architectures, powering the “fat-client”, AJAX-type rich internet applications.

This book treats JavaScript as a serious object-oriented language, showing you how to build robust, maintainable, and powerful libraries and applications. Along the way, we cover many of the recent innovations such as AJAX, JSON, and interesting design and coding patterns. After reading this book, you’ll be prepared to ace your JavaScript job interview and even impress with some bits that the interviewer maybe didn’t know. You should read this book if you want to be able to take your JavaScript skills to a new level of sophistication.

Sounds great! I remember struggling with writing messy Ajax and javascript code when I first started learning how to create websites. This sounds like a really useful resource! In particular, I really want to see what sort of design and coding patterns the book has to offer.
