Net.tuts+ Premium Program Now Open and Triple the Value!

Memberships to our long-awaited Net.tuts+ Premium program are now available. Now you can get even more out of your favorite web development site. In 24 hours we’ll be adding our first Net.tuts+ video lesson, an advanced jQuery plug-in screencast, but first we’d like to tell you a bit about the Program.

Here’s why we think you’re going to love Plus:

1. Exclusive bonus tutorials teaching professional web dev techniques

Once a week Premium members will get access to a bonus tutorial at Net.tuts+. We understand that joining Premium is an investment in your skills as a web developer. We want to make sure that investment pays off. Because of this, each Premiumtutorial teaches skills that professional web developers can use to add extra value for clients and, in doing so, add extra value to your business.

Premium tutorials are authored by accomplished web developers, industry leaders, Net.tuts+ editor Jeffrey Way and other names you’ll recognize. Each tutorial focuses on coding languages and frameworks many web developers are proficient in, such as CSS, XHTML, Javascript, PHP and MySQL.

  • See exactly how the code is built, line by line;
  • Learn sought-after techniques clients will pay big bucks for;
  • Undertake challenging exercises that raise your skills to another level.

“I did the quarterly deal, not to save money, but to not have to worry about it for 3 months. I wish there was an annual option. $19/month is a steal for the quality of content available here.” — Adam Jackett on Psd.tuts+

2. Screencasts make learning complicated techniques easy

Net.tuts+ Premium tutorials will almost always have accompanying video, whether they are pure screencasts or written tutorials with a video companion. At Tuts+ we’ve found that video lessons provide the clearest and most engaging training platform.

  • Stream video lessons to learn at your own pace;
  • Engaging commentary means lessons are never dry.

“I pay—well, my wonderful parents pay—over $500 for my PCgraphics class, and I have learned more in a $19 subscription period of one month here than all year at school.” — Nico Valencia on Psd.tuts+

3. Premium is now your Skeleton Key to the entire Tuts+ Network

Your single Premium membership now gives you access not only to Net.tuts+, but to Psd.tuts+ and Vector.tuts+ Plus content.You will also gain access to any sites that go Plus in future. Your Plus membership will now give you access to three bonus high-end tutorials each week (one on each Plus site) and hundreds of sample file downloads at Psd.tuts+ and Vector.tuts+. This is a learning suite any web developer can afford. This works out at only $3 per site, per month, and even less if you go for the quarterly subscription. You’ll be adding impressive value to your web development and design business.

Plus Programs

“This is the cleanest, most professional PSD tutorial website on the net and the small monthly fee is nothing compared to the quality of material here. Keep up the good work.” — mattems on Psd.tuts+

What does it cost?

Premium membership is $19 a month, or $22 per quarter. For the cost of a magazine subscription you can get access to all of the following:

  • Weekly video lessons by industry leaders;
  • Access to all past and future video lessons;
  • Sought-after techniques in web development across a range of common coding languages and frameworks;
  • Membership to Psd.tuts+ and Vector.tuts+;
  • Access to our Tuts+ bonus content and features.

“$19 is cheap for what you give me.” — Ryan on Psd.tuts+

Worth $19? We think so.

And that’s why if you’re not satisfied, you can get your money back, in full. It’s our 100% money back guarantee. Just follow these instructions and we’ll give you a full refund.

Remember, your Net.tuts+ membership also grants you access to both Vector.tuts+ and Psd.tuts+. That’s three Premium programs for one small membership fee.

So what are you waiting for?

A Better Plus Interface

Although the content on Premium has always been stellar, we’ll admit we’ve had a bit of a sub-standard Premium website. Well no more, because along with our rebranding we’ve got a new and improved Premium system for you to use, take a look at some screenshots:

Earn 25% Monthly on Referrals!

Affiliate Banner

And last but not least, we are officially launching our Affiliate Program today. You’ll be able to earn 25% of the monthly payments of any member you refer for the first year. That means as a referrer you can build up a nice, steady, monthly income through a proven product that literally thousands of people use and enjoy. And with today’s announcements, that Plus program is even better value for money than ever!

You can grab the full terms and conditions here as well as information on how to sign up, and lots of banners!

Development Stuff!

Finally because this is Net.tuts+, you may be interested to know how we built the new Premium and Tuts+ sites. Thanks to the hard work of our obscenely talented web dev Derek Herman, the Tuts+ site is in fact three sites meshed together to look like it’s just one.

When you first arrive you’re looking at a WordPress installation, hooked up with a customized jQuery dashboard homepage based on the Net.tuts+ tutorial Mimic iGoogle. Then when you sign in, you’re using a hacked up version of aMember, a PHP membership script you can pick up for $180. AMember provides all the membership, account, and affiliate functionality. Finally once you go to see the Premium content, you’re into a third WordPress installation, customized to allow sorting and searching of items (which are actually Posts).

So there you have it, a study in hacking together open source software and off-the-shelf PHP products, then coating it all with a smooth front-end, Tuts+ style :-)

    Any word on when the rest of the tuts+ sites are scheduled to launch? In particular, why isn’t AudioTuts+ and AETuts+ already on there?

  • http://www.danharper.me Dan Harper

    Looks great! However, am I the only one who thinks the TUTS+ branding appears VERY confusing?

    All TUTS sites are now named xxx.tuts+ and you then have ‘Plus Content’ for each site. It’s hard to explain, but it’s as though the branding is a little off.
    The main, public area of the tuts network should simply be ‘nettuts’, ‘psdtuts’, ‘aetuts’ etc. with the actual Plus content being as ‘nettuts+’, ‘psdtuts+’, ‘aetuts+’.

    Hope I explained that right..

  • http://www.nettuts.com Jeffrey

    @w1sh – These things take time. Piece by piece…

  • http://twitter.com/taylorsatula Taylor Satula

    Wo, Wo, Wo. does this mean there will be no examples and downloads! and nettuts will not be accessable or usible for the poor man. (E.X. me)

    Hey Dan, yeah it does feel a bit odd. I wish we could get tuts.com but sadly there’s a theatre using it … we did actually write to them :-)

    I’m still hoping to somehow acquire it :-)

  • http://themeforest.net/user/JeffreyWay Jeffrey Way

    @Taylor – Absolutely not! Nothing will change on the regular site. We’ll simply be adding extra high quality content/video tuts for those interested.

    F*ck :-( How i can read tuts.plus if in our contry we hadn’t paypal :-( And paypal system doesn’t work with us…

  • Scott

    I think now i will sign up, seems like great value :)

    I agree about the new branding, but i think give it a couple of weeks and you wont give it a second thought.

  • http://snedekerdesignz.com/blog/ Craigsnedeker

    I can’t wait for CG TUTS!!!

  • MasterDKR

    just bought a fresh account!!

  • http://www.duzodesign.com Timothy

    This site is really pushing freemium. I just like the free part of it.

  • http://www.xqlusive.nl xQlusive

    Sounds good this new feauture. Im thinking about signing up.

  • kiziel

    New languages comming soon? as soon as gmail comes out of beta, right ? :D

  • http://ainsworthstudio.com Josh Read

    Collis and team. FANTASTIC. $88 per year is a great deal and more than generous for the quality of information you guys put out. Thank you!

  • Jasmin

    When will you publish the first tutorial on nettuts+ ?

  • http://windesignworld.com winmonaye

    I’ve been membership for while and canceled a month ago b/c most of membership stuffs are for designer and not useful for web programmer.
    I will diffidently buy again, if there are Nettuts tutorial which we can use on real world. Please no more beginner stuff with lack security aspect, they are all over the web.

    Anywhere, new site looks great and nice to see everything in one place. Member’s area also seems more organized, and happy to see search box there. Keep up great job!!

  • Jeremy

    I agree the branding is a little confusing… but thats perhaps because regular visitors are use to seeing a clear separation between the free content and the “plus content.”

    Now, the “plus” is an actual component to all the site naming conventions, which makes long-term tut junkies think every site is pay-oriented, or even pay-required.

  • http://matheleo.de lorenz::matheleo

    i personally don’t like the new names and logos, but may that’s just my personal taste. and the names suggest non-plus members to be second-class users…

  • aliaspanther

    Awesome! This has been the only reason I’ve been holding out on a Plus membership, for the lack of a Nettuts+ program. Very excited to see it implemented, as well as the revamp of the whole system so that one subscription goes for all 3 tuts+ sections.

    @kiziel: Maybe it’ll be out by the time the Mayans strike in 2012… Haha j/k.

  • Chris

    I’m already a member but this is all good.

  • http://valendesigns.com Derek

    The “language coming soon” is due to the fact we have been doing a lot of projects at the same time and I thought it best to wait till we updated the tuts sites to 2.7.x and finished the merging of the sites and there-branding portion was a bigger priority to me right now than that. However, there are people gearing up to start translation and things will be moving forward with that soon. Really! I promise.

  • http://laminbarrow.com Lamin Barrow

    Paying for web dev tuts… hehehe :D it better be from another world then. This is such a huge challenge and i wonder whos up for it?

  • http://www.DanMesa.com Dan

    I know its crazy, but I don’t have the money for this right now, but as soon as I finish the contract I’m on I will.

    Will I have access to past material, or only the material published from the point I sign up?

  • mike

    So if I joined PSDTuts+ like a month and a half ago or so, do I get access to all of the tuts sites now? or will that be when my renewal comes around?

  • http://themeforest.net/user/JeffreyWay Jeffrey Way

    @mike – Yep!

  • http://blog.insicdesigns.com insic

    awesome changes.

  • http://www.DanMesa.com Dan

    What about @ Dan, sir?

  • http://www.oelerich.org Oli

    I’m reading nettuts for a while now, and obviously there will be no EXTRA content on nettuts+ but there will content be taken from the site that is open for all and made accessible only for paying users. That’s how the web goes…

  • http://www.danharper.me Dan Harper

    @Dan You get access to everything – old and new – for all Plus programs – for the time of your subscription.

  • http://www.danharper.me Dan Harper

    Edit: That means everything.

  • http://chris.kovalenko.co.uk Chris

    When the other plus sites like the AE site gets added, will this be a ONE subscription to FOUR sections? and so on for the other sites? If so this will be really good value for money. It is at the minute so anything more will be great.

  • http://www.devfine.com Marcel Doornbos

    Great :D I just signed up ;)
    Awesome… Pitty that we have to wait for the first tutorials for nettuts :)

  • http://www.zettersten.com Erik Zettersten

    How much “bonus” content will there be?

    Since I really enjoy your video screencasts (big fan of JW), will signing up for the premium service only entitle me to the same one video a week that’s currently being shared? Or are those now premium only? Or will a premium user get those in addition to more video’s?

    I’m supportive of your decision to price your tutorials though! Your content is far more valuable than anything else on the web. (And it’s given to us in such a eye pleasing modern new paper-like interface)

    Thanks

  • John Dangerous

    Good deal.
    I think you should have a Flash tuts and Action Script tuts.
    I think that would be a gold mine.
    I get calls from local agencies on a regular for Flash work.
    Although there are some good sites out there already, there
    aren’t a lot of examples in tutorials with real world examples.
    It would be cool if there were some tuts on how to build out some of the stuff found on Flash Den.

  • Jay

    When are the tuts for web development coming on NETTUTS+ ??

  • HeavenSmile

    As someone who’s been here since the beginning, I have to say I love you. I remember when vectortuts came out, I thought you guys had hit the perfect demographic that included me (2D graphic designer), and then you added NetTuts, and I felt even more included (2D graphic web designer), and then audiotuts (2D graphic web designer w/ music hobby), and then Aetuts OMG (2D motion graphic/ web designer w/ music hobby). To see Fla.Tuts and CG.tuts on the way brings joy to my heart. It seems as though anything I’d ever want to do with a computer, you guys will be there to lend a helping hand.

    And to know that my Plus membership will carry over: Priceless

  • http://themeforest.net/user/JeffreyWay Jeffrey Way

    @Oli – That statement isn’t even close to true. Zero content will be taken from the public site.

  • http://twitter.com/taylorsatula Taylor Satula

    @jeffrey then why is there no nettuts.com theres only net.tutsplus.com and no downloads from new tuts?

  • http://themeforest.net/user/JeffreyWay Jeffrey Way

    @Taylor – It’s just a rebranding. nettuts.com = net.tutsplus.com.

    The recent tutorials haven’t required source code. I promise you that it will be included with tutorials, if appropriate.

  • http://www.mindred.co.uk Steve

    I have signed up, hoping to see some good beginner and advanced tutorials.

  • Erik

    How much “bonus” content will there be or can I expect?

  • Birdyoshi

    Why should ANYTHING be free? These guys work hard.

  • http://www.crearedesign.co.uk Martyn

    Great new structure, look forward to signing up. Also, nice logos as well. What more do you get when signing up?
