The Largest jQuery Class in the World

The Largest jQuery Class in the World

A couple weeks ago, Tuts+ Premium launched a free new real-time course, called “30 Days to Learn jQuery.” After signing up, each member receives an email, linking to a new video lesson for an entire month.

I’m pleased to announce that, after only two weeks into the course, we’ve amassed the largest jQuery class in the world, with 40,000 registered students!

You Can Still Sign Up

If you never got around to signing up for the course, you still can; there’s no deadline. Even after I publish the final “Lesson 30,” the course will continue to be freely available forever.

The Largest jQuery Class in the World

For those of you who have some experience with jQuery, the final two weeks of the course will focus on higher level concepts, such as templating, code organization, deferreds, and much more. It’s okay to jump ahead, if you already know the essentials!

        We thank you:)

      Yes me too

You bet. True story. I Also encourage everybody to get a premium account, even if it is for just one month, in order to support tutorials like these. Even they are free, it would be great to help people like Jeffrey. Just think about if those 40k subscribers would have given $0.50 cents for the entire course? That would ensure further courses.

  • Michael

nice! i like you’re course, learned already a lot. thx jeff

  • Robert Varga

I totally agree, he really makes learning jQuery easy and fun! Keep up the good work!

I believe Jeffrey is an exceptional trainer. Concise with his thoughts and clear to address one topic to the next, in just a few minutes! Sometimes I can’t keep up with this train and have to watch it 2 or 3 times:)

    What’s the next project about?

Congratulations and can’t wait to finish this course.

    • http://www.jeffrey-way.com Jeffrey Way

That’s okay – I can’t tell you how many screencasts I’ve watched over and over.

      • http://sdbwebsolutions.com Serg

        Hey Jeffrey,
How about a tutorial on a mobile framework like sencha touch2 or JQuery mobile…? I would live to work with a mobile prototype that connects with a database or web service like REST and see all the pros and cons, performance, etc…

Thanks for helping us improve our skills:)

  • Bluroon

This is very good. I wish Jeffrey can do ASP.NET 30 Days To Learn :)

I may not “agree with” every last line of code he writes but I’ve learnt *so much* from Jeffrey Way, his videos of a couple of years ago are the reason I started to properly learn jQuery.

(Paul Irish has some jQuery videos too, also defo worth a watch.)

Maybe a tutorial on making the slider more accessible, perhaps ARIA attributes?

    Thanks for the videos

    • http://roadha.us haliphax

Paul also does some fantastic “things I learned from the jQuery code” segments, where he takes some of the optimization “tricks” he found in the jQuery source code and applies them to generic Javascript development. Fantastic stuff.

  • Oved

El curso esta genial, se espera con ansias cada nuevo video.

When I started my career as a Web Developer, Nettuts was undoubtedly the single most helpful resource I had and Jeff, I cannot thank you enough for these awesome tutorials. They have made me who I am today.

  • arnold

hi jeff , this might be out of topic,

can you guys use the video player that you use for the ’30 days to learn jquery’

because youtube is block in our office ,, some videos at nettuts is using youtube, so another alternative video player might be cool

  • http://private-storm.de stOrM!

Hey Jeffrey thx alot for your great work!
I must say I started this course from the ground up so I really had no clue before about javascript / jquery and templates.

But really now I started some little jquery projects :)
Another thing is that I really never had so much fun learning as I have now watching your videos!
    Pretty cool :)

It might be allowed to ask you two questions:

I guess you have a lot of snippets integrated or they might come from another app when you use Sublime Text.

Would it be a problem for you to export them (not all for sure but the ones you use regulary?) So maybe in a text / xml format or whatever I could start to integrate them with Sublime Text? Well, not all at once for sure I guess that must be a lot of them but one after another.

Another thing is that might have to do while you are using a MAC probably when you start typing almost instantly the codecompletion window appears that I’m highly missing on Windows or is there a plugin I can use for?

    kindest regards
    s!

  • dotPlus

thank you Jeffrey Way for the awesome courses. The HTML & CSS one has helped me a lot and now looking forward to watch this one.

  • Nirav

Before this course, I was simply acquainted with JQuery. Now, I’m in love with JQuery. Half an hour of daily enlightenment. Thanks a tonne Jeffrey!

    • http://www.gustavstromberg.se/ Gustav Strömberg

      Amen!

  • Martijn

You deserved it! Every weekend I watch all the episodes of the past week, really nice and clear explanation.

  • Oscar

I thought I know a lot of jquery until I begin this course. It’s awesome! I’m learning a lot.

It’s very very well done, Jeffrey has done a great job! he’s good teacher.

    Thanks!

  • Avelansh

    Now you’re bragging Jeffrey ^^ … Just kidding … Not really !

  • McMikerG

Seems like this ’15 minutes a day’ concept is really working for me! It prevents me from going on for to long and forgetting most of it afterwards. Although in reality i’ll spend up to 45 minutes each day – only watching a video is not enough of course, you do have to get hands on. I’ve tried other learning material but this course finally gets me through the scary and boring stuff. I like Jeffrey’s pace -when its to slow i usually get distracted. Also the quizzes are really fun and helpful. Last but not least : its also great that you can ask Jeffrey questions along the course.

    Thanks Jeff!

The classes are great; Jeffrey is an outstanding instructor. I really appreciate the ability to download the files and study them at my own pace. Thank you for offering this course.

Thanks Jeffrey ….I can’t wait for the C# version

  • Pedro Coelho

Great Tut Jeffrey!! I’m working with jQuery for 4 years now, but I’m always learning something new and more important, best practices. This course give better ways to do my work, at least to part of it.
I’ll be watching for new courses.
    Thanks!

  • Mario

Can’t wait for the CodeIgniter course!

    Thanks Jeffrey! :D

  • moncef

thanks a lot Jef, this is just outstanding the effort you made to make such a video tutorial with high added value it’s really good stuff, and now i am completly in love with jQuery :D

  • farhad

JQuery AJAX please,Jeffrey and thanks so much for the course.

      It’s coming. :)

  • arjoonkanth

You are the best Jeffrey, A humble request make a detailed PHP MVC tutorial too. It will be more helpful.

  • http://edwardsonsarenas.name/ ikko buko

    Hi Jeff,

What is the term “namespace” in javascript.

    Thanks

  • Boabramah Ernest

I really like the way you always make reference to the jquery source. I hardly look through it. Jeffery Way will never be happy if we do not put these things into practice. Watching is one thing and using what you’ve learn is another.

I am trying to understand the prototype and inheritance thing and My request is that you talk a bit about MVC in javascript using Jquery. That will help a lot.

    Thanks Brother

  • http://www.redkingdesigns.com Rory

Treasure to the community Jeffrey. Keep up the good work (and add a donate button)

  • Siddharth

    Hey Jeff,

Thank U so much for this course. I am still left to complete all your jquery tutorials. You are a great teacher!! And your concept of some minutes for a day and quiz is very good.

I would request you to give same kind of tutorials for ASP.NET, PHP if possible. The main thing that is a problem for me is OOP!!!

    Thanks

  • http://www.ericaxu.com Erica

Hi Jeffery, I’m wondering your MBTI, if you’ve done one. Does yours start with I or E?
I just love the way you explain things, its fast and organized, and smart in the sense of smartness with insights at the same time. I rarely see that so I’m really curious.

If not please ignore my post. Thank you for the great tutorials.
oh, P.S. sometimes you don’t have to speak faster to make the screencast shorter… English is my second language so it’ll be a little harder to comprehend the material. Besides I don’t really mind an extra 3-4 minutes.

  • Fritz

Most awesome course you can find! :) Thank you a lot!

  • http://www.cyberillusions.net Nick

I remember, when I subscribed for this course at the beginning, it had already got over 2.000 students. No wonder, because Jeffrey is real master. I pretty much love all of his tutorials!!

    THX Jeffrey!!

  • ingo fahrentholz

This is one of the best jquery video tutorials i’ve seen. Finally in lesson 23 – jeff teaches a very nice example for code organisation and shows some really cool coding standards…

Very nice idea to publish an course for every day !

    I lov’it.

  • http://www.modernooze.com sam

Thank you, so, so, so much you make more sense than the jQuery documentation any day
could you bash out a series for php also.

Will the videos always be available as well?

    Many Thanks

Jeffrey is absolutely the most UP TO DATE web teacher over there. This tutorial was the kick-starter i needed to start getting into learning real jQuery. I also switched to sublime, chrome autosave and some other goddies.

    Thank you Jeff!
