Web Design in Two Minutes

This is a time-lapse video of what was originally about 2 hours. Though this video doesn’t teach anything specifically, it’s strangely calming to watch.

Found via directedbysun on YouTube.com.

We’ll be implementing guest web development screencasts beginning today. If you’ve created a wonderful video tutorial, or know of a great one, please email me at nettutsblog@gmail.com with a link! I’ll definitely review it.

    It’s cool.

  3. James says:

I’ve always liked time-lapse videos, they’re just so cool and calming!

I know it’s not web-related but this has to be one of the best time-lapse videos I’ve ever seen: http://www.vimeo.com/1831024 (They’re not models, that’s real footage!!!)

Thanks for the post Jeffrey, can’t wait for more guest screencasts! :)

  4. Jhay says:

    Suki desu. Haha!

    Jhay

  5. Furley says:

That’s awesome! I’ve tried doing that in the past but always ran into trouble with the screen capture software. What software do you use?

  6. Nathan says:

    Dang that was awesome!

  7. weblizzer says:

    such a great tutorial….

  8. Alex Fraiser says:

    That’s just awesome!

  9. Sean Nelson says:

I actually recorded one of these not too long ago, but I wasn’t pleased with the outcome of my project so I never posted it. Maybe I should try it again…

  10. Steeven says:

My life everyday – thank god not at that speed though.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I’ll use it to show clients next time they ask me for a “quick site redesign – you know, in 2 minutes – real cheap, real quick”…

If they only knew what it takes to do real Web Design… Now they can have glimpse. “In 2 minutes”…

  11. Alan says:

    Interesting…

How do you speed up an ordinary video? I’ve always wanted to do a time-lapse on my video camera.

  12. Unreal Media says:

I love to see ‘real’ coding at work. I do all mine in dreamweaver. I feel like Im cheating sometimes.

  13. Neil says:

woa…how is that cool? I just wasted 2 minutes of my life,!

  14. Swami Atma says:

I think the calming part comes from the music, not the video itself.

  15. Reader says:

Sometimes i can find really nice stuff on nettuts.com, but things like this are just crap, srry. Who cares about a bad quality screencast which doesnt teach ANYTHING. Beside this, the design doesnt look good.

  16. Eray Alakese says:

Thank you :) are there slow version of this?

  17. duellsy says:

Love timelapse… pretty quick build! well done

  18. Lavin says:

    Really cool man, really cool!

  19. That is a great movie. How long were you recording the screen I wonder?

  20. Shane says:

@James – that video was fantastic – I may have had a few glasses of wine, but I really enjoyed that.

    Ahem.

@Jeffrey – my wife watched the video earlier, and she asked why I can’t work at that speed :)

  21. Brian McCarrie says:

I’ve got a problem with the word “Design” in this post.

I have no idea what that site was about and I should know by looking at the design.

You should have called this post “Build a generic web template in 2 minutes”

    Cool time-lapse video though.

  22. insic says:

i thought the title of this post is for real.

  23. bjornredemption says:

Wow all that work and didn’t check his email once! :) Great video!

  24. flo says:

Cool ! Is the entire version true speed visible somewhere ?

  25. “How to Build a Bland Website (in Photoshop) Like It’s 2001″

    There, fixed the title.

  26. Darren says:

pretty coo! website granted was not the best… but i like the idea of the video, anyone know what song that was?

  27. Ackam says:

Yeah I love it’s cool, more grease to your elbow

  28. Chritian Mejia says:

I watched the video twice just to hear the song. It’s from the Amelie soundtrack, right? Yeah… It wasn’t the greatest movie but the cinematography and soundtrack are worth watching it. I have to agree with some of the above comments. The site was pretty bland. You can’t please everybody.

Thanks for the screencast. Now how about Nettuts starts creating some rather than picking them off youtube!!! Jus’ my two cents.

Hey guys. Just to clarify – this isn’t my work. As I wrote above, this video was taken from YouTube. I love timelapse videos and wanted to share it.

So, I’m not using Dreamweaver….”directedbysun” is using it.

Personally, I use Visual Studio 08, and phpDesigner 08 – as you can see in my screencasts.
