What’s New on Tuts+ Premium?

It’s time for your regular update from Tuts+ Premium! Each month, we continue to release more of the most requested courses from the community! If you haven’t been by to say hello in the last few weeks, here’s what’s new from the web development side of the site!

Programming .NET (20 Videos)

For over ten years, Microsoft’s .NET Framework has been the platform to develop for if you want to target Windows or Windows-based technologies. Getting started with the .NET Framework can be a daunting task, as the .NET Framework class library is pretty darn big. But, thankfully, there are a core set of classes that you can use in any Windows or Web app. In this course, we’ll take a look at these classes

Getting Started With Python (21 Videos)

In this course, you’ll learn how to use the Python programming language. We’ll begin with the very basics, and then move our way up to creating dynamic webpages and custom applications. We will wrap up the course by discussing how to distribute your Python programs to other developers.

Laravel Essentials (Live) (15 Videos)

Laravel has taken the PHP community by storm, with its incredibly expressive syntax, the most powerful Active-Record implementation available, a robust command line tool, and much more. Join me, as I dig into the framework, and demonstrate how to build web applications with ease!

CodeIgniter Essentials (19 Videos)

In this course, I’ll get you up to speed on the PHP CodeIgniter framework. You’ll learn why it’s important to consider an MVC structure, and how to build projects in CI. Let’s get started!

The Fundamentals of Ruby (15 Videos)

Are you ready to be escorted to the wonderful world of Ruby development? If so, this is the course for you! This course start from scratch, as we learn the ins and outs of the language, and how it compares to other languages that you might be familiar with, like PHP. If you’d like to join me, let’s get started!

So You Bought a Mac? (33 Videos)

You couldn’t stop smelling it on the way home. You turned it on for the first time, and listened to the friendly “do do do-do…do” installation music that all Mac users are familiar with. Now, you’re left with a clean installation of OS X, but don’t know where to start. Which apps are the best? What’s the recommended code editor for the Mac? How do I create aliases in Terminal?

Git Essentials (24 Videos)

Building web applications can be tough, but we sometimes make it tougher than it needs to be. If you’ve ever tried to fix bugs in one part of a file, while keeping track of a new feature in another part of the file, you know what I’m talking about!

Enter version control. A version control system, like Git, can keep track of the bugs, the features, the experiments, and everything else. You’ll never have to worry about overwriting stable code or losing track of your bugs again! In this course, I’ll teach you everything you need to know to start using Git in your daily development workflow.

Understanding Backbone in .NET (15 Videos)

If JavaScript spaghetti code is something that you’re all too familiar with, it’s time to change things. The solution is Backbone.js, which provides the perfect structure for building modern web applications. In this course, as we work through the process of building a photo app, we’ll learn how to use this framework within a .NET application.

FuelPHP Essentials (14 Videos)

FuelPHP is a simple, but flexible, PHP 5.3 web framework that is rapidly picking up steam. It takes a different approach to many frameworks and strives to be community-driven. In this course, as one of the core team members who works on the framework, I’ll get you up and running!

Maintainable CSS With Sass and Compass (17 Videos)

Simple CSS is great for small projects, but what happens when your applications begin to scale? At that point, a massive stylesheet can become incredibly difficult to manage. Luckily, Sass and Compass are the solution!

Cleaner Code With CoffeeScript (16 Videos)

Welcome! CoffeeScript has taken the web development world by storm, since it was released on Christmas Eve in 2009. If you haven’t had the chance to test drive this neat little language—but have wanted to—I hope this course will give you that opportunity. If you’re ready to start, let’s go!

PHP Fundamentals (46 Videos)

So you’ve learned the basics – HTML and CSS – and are now ready to dig into building your own dynamic websites. Congratulations for getting this far; now it’s time for the fun part! In this course, I’ll teach you, from scratch, how to use PHP; we’ll also, naturally, have to learn a bit of MySQL in the process!

This is a live course, and is updated every day during the work week! Check back often!

Love the Basics and Essentials series. I’d like to add my vote (if you don’t mind) for some more advanced lessons in the series. Some ideas for those; SPL, Iterators, Abstracts/Interfaces, building our own helper classes, autoloaders, refactoring, refactoring w/tests.
