Even though you had WorkAwesome a ProductivityTuts+ would be great. Combine all of your other Tuts sites productivity articles. Productivity desktop apps, phone apps, tablet apps showcase and best practices. Organization skill acknowledgements. Application shortcuts, tips and tricks. I would have articles for Microsoft Office already drawn up for this. On the same level of Freelancing having articles guide your readers in setting up and maintaining their business or if they belong to an organization help them get the tools to improve their company. I am currently working on a “IT Toolbox Meeting” a spin off of our safety toolbox meeting to help inform our users on whats coming and how to improve their workflow.

  • Toan Nguyen

GameDev for sure. I should be really fun. I’m looking forward to this.

  • Diogo

I think that Businesstuts+, freelancetuts+ and writingtuts+ are the most interesting ones. I’m sure you will make the right choice.

  • http://www.nethawk.com.pk Kamran

    linux.tutsplus.com

    or better:

    opensource.tutsplus.com

would like to see tutorials covering open source softwares such as gimp, inkscape, vim etc

    • Rich

Linuxtuts+ is certainly missing from your Poll and I voted for this in Other. As a second option I would choose Gamedevtuts+.

What I most definitely DO NOT want to see is Mactuts+, fed up of seeing things for Mac.

    • moe

      Linuxtuts+ indeed

  • Leslie

Gah, I want Gamedevtuts+ and Mathtuts+. I think more people would enjoy Gamedevtuts+, though, and it seems more in tune with the other offerings from Envato. There’s a lot that can be done there.

I voted for Writingtuts+ because communication skills are useful for any professions. There are some blogs about blogging or creative writing, but I don’t know any good source about writing in general. I’d love to learn about how to structure an article, how to write for the web (beyond the basic principles), how to develop a style guide (for example for a website, how to keep the navigation labels and all the text consistent) and also how to express the same concept in different styles or for different audiences.

I’m also interested in Productivitytuts+ if it focused (or at least has categories) for designers / developers. I don’t care about GTD, inbox zero, etc. I’m interested in DRY, agile software development and even tips to be faster with Fireworks and design apps in general, for example how to create re-usable design elements.

    • http://davidappleyard.net David Appleyard
      Author

Interesting thoughts! If we were to do Productivitytuts+, it would definitely cover more than just the regular GTD style content.

  • Nate

    Gamedevtuts+

  • Alex kourou

    Freelance for sure!

  • Yaawd

Freelance tuts may be great. But I don’t want another site about how to sit in front of my computer. I want real tips of how to threat clients and find them etc.

    • http://davidappleyard.net David Appleyard
      Author

I don’t think we should be teaching how to threaten clients :-)

  • Max B

    Writingtuts+

  • Łukasz

    Science!
    Because it works.

GameDevTuts+ – I went to college as a Computer Science Major for the purpose of becoming a video game designer. As time went on, video games grew into monstrous beasts with 3d animation and worlds, actor’s voices, etc. Now with smart phones, ipads and HTML5, the old school type of video game makes its resurgence… and my dream of making one of those for people to enjoy and play is a reality. Help me do that!

Adobe is putting out a new software program called Edge. It is designed for CSS animations, but could become the standard GUI for web design. No more PSD to HTML conversion, just drag and drop and some javascript / jquery to run things.

THis software might not be ready for a separate tutorial site, but in terms of what I’d love to see, an Edge-like approach to webdesign could be a revolutionary change in webdesign

  • Edgar Mkrtchyan

I’ve chosen Gamedevtuts+ as I think that the game development is an industry the community should also focus on.

  • http://giggleboxstudios.net Brandtley McMinn

I’m voting Businesstuts+ because despite the growing number of resources for individuals looking for information to run their business, it’s usually a small success blog or some sort of proprietary how-to series which is only accessible by purchasing the information. Other resources are available, but they also tend to be more focused on what other businesses are doing in various spaces in different industries and don’t offer a whole lot of information for the up and coming startup such as tax considerations, business planning, whether to become incorporated or becoming an LLC… these resources are available but tend to be rather high-level and stuffed to the gills with business jargon or offer limited use-cases.

Tuts+ as a community has a way of taking the high-level content and making it more manageable for the average individual just starting out to get through a topic with their sanity relatively intact, as well as finding the best and the brightest to write content for the various areas of discussion available via Tuts+. I think information regarding the procedures and operation of a business is a natural progression for the Envato network to consider.

Thanks for producing stellar content and keeping me interested :)

Thanks for your kind words :-) Whichever site(s) we choose, we’ll certainly be sticking with the high quality, easy to understand style of teaching!

    I’m thinking something like frameworkstuts+ or webframeworkstuts+

I think it either of those would be a cool idea to keep up to date with recent frameworks development even for web apps frameworks. Each frameworks keeps updating and updating and when you find a good article on, lets say Ruby on Rails, its outdated a couple versions back, I’m not saying we can’t use that to learn off of but keeping up with new the versions and showing others the changes to the new version would be a nice site to come visit often.

I’m personally trying to learn Ruby on Rails and just finding a good tutorial to work off of is a bit hard, that’s just my two cents.

    Hi,
i voted for Gamedev but i hesitate with “other” : LinuxTuts

  • Anthony

    Gamedevtuts+

As others have said before, there aren’t many good articles regarding this subject online. Seeing articles on collision, ai, and things of the like would be really cool.

  • Jones

Would love to see a Startuptuts+

  • http://kriix.com Kristijan

Productivitytuts+ would be great as this area is a big matter to many people out there with different jobs and careers. We can’t ever say that we are productiv to our maximum and can always learn something new.

  • http://www.nicolaswidart.com Nicolas Widart

I voted for “Mactuts+”. I would love to see more workflow videos, showcasing the latest apps available.

As a second choice I would go with ‘Other’ and “SEOtuts+”. Where lots of tips & tricks will be published about SEO.

    Cheers. :)

  • http://www.peacelovedesign.net Nicole

I would like to see a business tuts+. Even though Envato networks covers business really well – it would be great to have an expansion from those sources.

  • Diego

I would like gamedevTuts+ because it should be nice to learn more about in-game-developing theories (like, 1° person PoV vs 3° Person, clicking action vs keyboard actions… etc). Right now there are a few tutorials in the tuts sites to code a few games (focused more on mobile), but nothing on the games themselves.

  • Angelo Loykatos

I believe TechTuts+ would be a great idea for a site because many people want to know the latest tech stuff and learn more about technology in general.

  • http://www.grayareabrand.com Malik Haynes

I added VideoProductionTuts+. It would great to have a site that provides tutorials on everything from scripting writing, story boarding, shooting, editing video, and uploading. Other tutorials could include lighting, camera types and selecting actors.

  • nico ekkart

I voted for ScienceTuts because it’s an all around theme, may things can be in it: MathTuts, HealthTuts, PhysicsTuts…..

  • ben

    sysadminTuts+

  • Nick

    Socialmediatuts+

It’s everywhere and users of facebook, twitter, google+ don’t understand how the underpinnings of privacy work. Facebook’s Open graph api is great for developers, but also for crooks if they get the correct permissions from you. Check out Scott’s explanation of how potentially anybody in the world can see a photo you upload as share only with friends.

    businesstuts++

  • MG

    I’d go for BusinessTuts+.

That is one part I’d like to see besides the tech aspect of the web development.

  • http://www.theelitenoob.com TheEliteNoob

I suggest a programming tuts+; that we we can have C, C++ and other programming languages.

  • http://www.shemes.es Shemes

I’d love to see some “non-web” oriented programming screencasts or courses. Something like Computers Architecture, C or C++, UML, Java for dummies. I’d really suscribe to that.

  • bandmaster3

Gamedevtuts+ because game development is really interesting

  • http://erickpatrick.com Erick Patrick

I’d like to see Gamedevtuts, mainly if it focus on creating Web games. Leverage the power of HTML5 to create a new and amazing Tuts+ site. You have pletora of subjects to talk about, from game dev theories to game loops examples (simple and advance); rendering; etc…

  • Brad

I’d personally love to see a LanguageTuts+ but that is most likely not going to happen as I don’t think enough of the current viewers of this site would vote for that. My second choice would be WritingTuts+; and I think if such a site were to be made articles such as how to write an essay, rhetorical strategies and other general writing tips would be interesting and could show up alongside articles that discuss how to write a tutorial or blog.

  • http://roch.com.br Rochester

    Financetuts+ for sure.

Mainly because many people just ignore how important is a good finance management. Especially for freelances, and developers who has mostly development related topics in the graduation, we yet have a lot to improve on this field.

And lastly, who doesn’t want to earn more working less? It’s all up with good finance management!

  • http://www.netdesignagency.com NDA

By experience , i know that it is a big topic and a real challenge to wear the hat of the designer , programmer , accounting , advertising, dealing with the clients ect… ,
so i would defenetly say Freelancetuts+ even if as network administrator in the cisco world that would be great to have a tut+ website about networking configuring routers and setting up a network and securing it , at the end anything from nettus+ is gonna be awesome ! ;)
    that’s it

  • http://www.agileds.com William

    GameDevTuts.

Game Development is a large industry and it is only getting larger. The mediums for game play is growing. In the past 5 years, it has moved from just PC/mac and consoles to mobile markets and exploded on web platforms. Facebook, Google+, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox ( later this year ) are making it game play easier on the web through either better javascript engines and getting your game noticed to social gameplay with friends.

Mobile games on iOS and Android make up the majority of top apps both paid and free.

This just feels like a great opportunity help make better developers.

  • BL

    Databasetuts+

With the focus big data, analytics, and NoSQL, databases have become a world all their own.

Keep up the great work guys! I love tutsplus!

  • http://www.martianwabbit.com Sergio Díaz

I voted for GameDevTuts simply because making games is awesome and a great company like Envato would be a great boost to the community around making games that has flourished lately which, I love.

  • http://seniorwebdesigner.com Mohamed

I think you should focus on MagentoTuts+ since there is no much resources and there is a huge base of Audience :)

  • http://www.zzilch.com Thryn

Businesstuts+ would be a great addition to the current suite since nearly everyone using these tuts is using them for some business-related purpose, either freelance, startup, or otherwise.

  • http://garrafote.com Garrafote

    I voted GamedevTuts+ for shure!

Activetuts is being great but it’s focusing on web games and flash/html stuff…

It would be wonderful if we had a ‘tuts+’ specially focused on Games, showing more techniques about game theory and development.

Althought, it would be nice to see one Programmingtuts+ showing programming techniques in general, which are the foundation for all of us!

  • Wes

BusinessTuts+ would be perfect. Most every resource given by tuts+ revolves around two types of people: business owners, and freelancers. Having business tips would be greatly accepted by nearly 100% of your userbase.

  • Victor Vilche

    DrupalTuts please!!

  • Brendan

I do like Jose’s idea of FrameworkTuts+ – but probably more as a premium tutorial series.

I recently asked Envato a question about doing a tutorial on which frameworks to use. I see fabulous tutes on various frameworks – but not so much about the comparison and when to use which one. Obviously selecting which php framework or which javascript framework comes down to personal preference – but how does one know if they should be using a php framework or javascript framework. There’s not a lot of talk (from what I’ve seen) about which language to choose – and then start to finish projects using maybe a combination.

    • http://davidappleyard.net David Appleyard
      Author

Good idea, Brendan. Might be a useful topic for Nettuts+ to cover!

  • Daniel

Gamedev would be amazing. Covering many aspects of game design would be extremely useful. Things such as opengl, xna, directx(not really preferred.)

  • http://www.facethebuzz.com Andrew K Kirk

    freelance.tus

I think it fits nicely with your readership. People are already coming to your site to learn and gain skills. Now teach them how to turn those skills into money making opportunities.

  • https://twitter.com/#!/Erinock Trystin

    Game dev tuts for sure

  • http://themacg33k.com/ Dylan Umsted

I’d like to see a Devtuts+ for tutorials on how to develop desktop apps. A freelance-slash-business tuts+ site would be next on my list.
