Which Tuts+ Site Should We Launch Next?

We’re planning our next few Tuts+ sites, and would love your opinion and advice on which topics you think we should cover next! We’d be really grateful if you could take a minute to answer our quick poll and share your thoughts…

Have Your Say

We’ve been considering lots of different ideas for our next Tuts+ sites over the past few weeks, and wanted to also ask the opinion of our awesome community!

A selection of different concepts are included in the poll to the right, along with the option for you to submit your own ideas as well.

The important thing to note is that these are just ideas. Some of these are close to making our final cut, and others aren’t… We’d love to hear what you think, to help guide our decision.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your suggestion — I can’t wait to see what you have to say!

Win a 6-Month Tuts+ Premium Membership

Our poll will be running for the next couple of weeks, and we’ll be choosing one respondent at random to receive a six-month Tuts+ Premium membership!

To be entered into the giveaway, just leave a comment on this post to go into a bit more detail about your site suggestion. We’ll choose one comment at random to win the Tuts+ Premium membership when the poll ends.

Best of luck!

I follow the Envato websites every day and think this comunity fits very well for freelancer, wathing the avaible resources i see that the logical missing is “Writing” !!!

For me as Freelancer, i can find every thing i need but tecnical tuts about writing, it would be great to learn how to write properly :) ; besides that, it would help, non native english people, to improve comunication skills (as you can see i am missing them :( )

  • http://www.gomah.fr/ Gomah

One day, i’ll hope all of these sites will be online ;]

  • http://www.artencode.com soba

    My vote for gamedevtuts+

will love to see this come to reality :)

  • Encelar

How about eCommerceTuts+ ? teach about bringing your business online for small store owners with existing free and cheap solutions ?

  • Romain

I’d like to see FreelanceTuts+ because in the next few years, I want to try becoming a freelancer. So any of the tuts you can give are very helpful :)

    • http://www.saroverhees.be Saro

      So what is FreelanceSwitch for?

  • Artur

I voted for Mathtuts ;) I think it is good idea for better start with game dev.

  • Rashidul

    TechTuts+ would be great :P

  • MJL

    There’s already a lot of good tuts, and i can’t have a 36 hours day…
    I voted for FindTheTimeToFollowTutsTuts+ !

  • http://cdgconsulting.com Jeff Fread

Helping make sense of how to leverage technology, both things I’m missing out on as well as how to get more out of what I have and put things together, would be a great help.

  • Sam

Another idea would be a site for tutorials about programming arduinos (and similar technologies). There’s definitely a shortage of good tutorials on this topic and a lot of people seem to have developed an interest in this area. Maybe call it Electrictuts+ or something?

I also think Programmingtuts+ would be a good idea. I know there are already plenty of sites which offer programming tutorials, however they all lack the quality seen here. Some screen casts on Java, C++, Python, etc. would be great!

I also like the idea of Linuxtuts+ and Networkingtuts+.

  • http://www.visualdecree.co.uk Mat D

I think for sure what the tuts + needs is a Gamedevtuts+ as i think there’s so much that can be covered on this topic and it requires it’s own site to contain everything that you’d need to cover.. not to mention it would be damn popular. There are a lot of people who could contribute to this field and even more who’d want to learn!

    Gamedevtuts+ FTW

  • http://mweichert.com Michael Weichert

I would really like to see sysadmintuts+. There’s few good resources IMO for sysadmins, other than perhaps Safari Books Online. But I don’t know of too many tutorials.

I want to see things on:
    - Setting up hosting infrastructures
    - Advanced Apache and Varnish configurations
    - Configuring and Optimizing Varnish
    - ZFS and Btrfs Walkthroughs
    - Recently in Kernel Development (XXX Edition)
    - Securing your server with AppArmor
    - Virtualization

  • http://www.webmasterlibre.com Alma Fernandez

I’d love to have some sysadmintuts+ too, right now developing for the web it’s much more than crafting code with so many different setups one can find. I’d love to know more about security, servers setup, virtualization and the like.
But as a regular reader of sites like freelance switch, I could use some in deep tutorials about freelancing and productivity.
If you keep the quality we are acustomed to anything you launch will be really welcome.

  • http://www.iuditg.com Udit Goenka

    I would say, Networkingtuts+

Everything related to networks would be awesome :)

  • John B

I had a hard time choosing between Mathtuts and Gamedevtuts. Both would be very useful for anyone in the programming field. Math is used in both Web and Game Development so it would be useful to have something that can teach a lot of the basics in regards to “best practices” and such.

  • http://itechblog.org Ablay

I want iOStuts+. Everything about iOS dev.

  • http://nerddev.tumblr.com Mario Costa Junior

SEOTuts+ can show people who develops for web SEM, SEM, Web Analytics and other thins related to get visitors and monetize his sites. Nettuts help you create, SEOtuts help you get known.

  • http://webitech.info Matrix

    I vote for techtuts :)

  • http://echoedlight.com Mitchell Bray

Id like to see a servertuts+ really focus on setting up good server environments

    • http://niklasek.se Niklas

      +1 for ServerTuts!

Making servers do what you want them to in a secure way is rarely easy. And all the interwebs depends on it!

  • http://www.scelza.com Chris Scelza

I would love to see productivity content delivered in the same manner as you deliver all of your other good stuff. +1 for ProductivityTuts+

  • http://www.jeremycarlsten.com Jeremy Carlsten

I think productivity tuts would be a good resource. Honestly, who can’t stand to be more productive whether it’s at work or just messing around it boosts one’s ego and, as a computer programming student, productivity looks good to perspective employers

  • dandelion

    I chose healthtut and craftut

  • http://joynag.me Joy

    My vote for freelancetuts+

Everything about freelance would be awesome :)

  • Joey Tanner

    My Vote was for Buissnesstuts

I think this would be a great idea and has lots subjects i believe you guys could talk about

  • John

I voted for Mathtuts+ but would be happy with Mactuts+ also.

    Linuxtuts+ would be cool also.

  • http://mediazoom.ca Nelson

I’d like to see a Businesstuts in the future. With more and more people attempting the leap into their own business, this becomes a valuable learning resource.

  • http://www.iappmag.de Philipp

For me as an Apple-Fan, MacTuts+ would be cool.
There could be software and hardware tutorials (like changing the batteries)…

  • Vibha

    My vote for freelance.
I will love to earn through tut+.

  • http://www.howtomake.com.ua/ JAH

    My vote for freelancetuts+

    yes i wonna win)

  • James

I would really love to see some game dev tuts, but in addition to that, not only focus on development, but also articles on physics, rigidbodies, gravity and how to do art for games ie. concept art/2D art/3D art. This as an addition on top of the psd.tuts, vector.tuts and cg.tuts.

    Would be freaking awesome..

  • Lowkawse

A Mobile Website tuts site would be great. You have the Mobile tuts site but rarely if ever touch upon issues in the mobile website market (responsive layout, gesture frameworks, etc).

Also, can someone at Envato take a look at the Freelanceswitch forum?! The experience on that forum, while in the past has been vibrant and extremely useful has fallen into a state of disrepair, spam and non-complete functionality plaguing the Freelanceswitch forum experience.

Simply adding a captcha to the login would solve most of the spamming issues on the forum which would help return the forum to its former self. Also, the “Remember Me” checkbox on the login has NEVER worked. If you don’t want to fix it, then remove it.

It looks like amateur time on the part of Envato concerning many elements on the Freelanceswitch forum. Fixing these issues will go along way to reaffirming to me that Envato cares about its community and wants to make its experience best of class.

  • tweakui

    TechTuts+ would be great

  • Abhijit

I would like to see ProductivityTuts+, as I am never happy with my time management, just feel that I am not productive enough!

  • Eduardo Segura

Eu gostaria de ver Gamedevtuts + e construir meus próprios jogos, – um sonho de criança – haha!

  • João Fernando

Gamedevtuts+, because I love games and I study for be a game developer :)

  • http://www.brownbirdmedia.co.uk Paul Bird

I think GameDevtuts+ would be good, I like the idea as web developers / designers we can be so broad and varied in what we do that we are given a wide range of flexibility. If you do pick Gamedevtuts then it would be great to see some really solid understanding of concepts for writing games in Javascript. Things like collision between objects and all the theory that goes with it, these ideas are dotted around the Internet but not collated in one place.

We see games and apps popping up everywhere nowadays and I think it would suck if you didn’t make a tutsplus it seems like the next logical step.

Might I also suggest a tutsplus on things such as PHP and server languages that will teach you about adding security to web pages and things to consider when coding to make it as safe as possible from things such as SQL injection attacks etc or incorporate it into the net+ series instead, or even PHP projects that you can go through with us. It would be especially helpful for people who don’t know PHP that well (like me!).

Either of these would be awesome and keep up the good work guys!

  • http://beckyarrowsmith.co.uk Becky A

Theres such a wealth of information about Web Development/Design on the web but hardly anything about how to enter the freelance world. A site like this would certainly help people get into the big bad world of clients!

  • http://chorfa.net Mohamed Chorfa

Id like to see a BiGDATATUTS+ and really focus on setting up the server and the machines
    like hadoop, pig, machine learning

  • http://chriscagle.me Chris Cagle

I think the next one should be StartupTuts+. Entrepreneurs need a tutsplus site as well…

  • http://html5tip.com Dennis Dinh

    I voted for Freelancetuts+!
i wish also you can lunch a Gamedevtuts & Techtuts ♥

  • MrPretty

    SharePointTuts+

SharePoint could be approached from a multitude of angles…

    Tutorials for end users.
    Tutorials for Administrators.
    Tutorials for Designers and Branding.
    Tutorials for Developers.

The competition for quality SharePoint tutorials is weak at best.

But I would give an honorable mention to gamedevtuts+ as well… and don’t forget that board games are games too!

  • https://twitter.com/#!/jonocosa Jose

I would love tho see a Tuts site dedicated to programming. So for me it´s ProgTuts

    • http://trucksmartsales.com Cris McLaughlin

I agree but I would call it softwaretuts+

  • Aric B

With all the great tutorials throughout the network I’d love to see what tuts come out for gamedevtuts+.

  • Jaison Justus

All are good but … My poll is for gamedevtuts+ ….

  • http://trucksmartsales.com Cris McLaughlin

I for one would love to see softwaretuts+ ! C#, C++, Java, Haskell, Pascal, Scala, Groovy, Lisp, C, D, Golang, Ruby, Objective-C, etc! Awesome for software engineers.

  • Patrick Nærvig Wøhlk

    I voted on Gametuts+

    Why?
Well i want to make games, and earn some cash.

    Patrick

  • Adrian

I’d like to see Freelancetuts+. This community really needs a place where to find out every detail there is about how to start and be successful as a freelancer. There is information out there but nothing clear and concise. We need steps, organization skills and learning tools that can tranform anybody into a self sustained individual. No more corporate zombies.

  • Kaspars

gamedevtuts+, but more about social and mobile game development, less flash.

  • http://hsp.dk Henrik Pedersen

Voted for math tuts. I’m a mathematical student, but the single most important skill as a programmer is math. So it would be nice with some math stuff, especially related to real computer problems.

  • http://lemondedereggie.fr Reggie368

OpenTuts+ about Open Source Softwares. But maybe someone already suggested it… Sorry I didn’t read all of the comments… Not Good, I know… :P
