Which Tuts+ Site Should We Launch Next?

Which Tuts+ Site Should We Launch Next?

We’re planning our next few Tuts+ sites, and would love your opinion and advice on which topics you think we should cover next! We’d be really grateful if you could take a minute to answer our quick poll and share your thoughts…

Have Your Say

We’ve been considering lots of different ideas for our next Tuts+ sites over the past few weeks, and wanted to also ask the opinion of our awesome community!

A selection of different concepts are included in the poll to the right, along with the option for you to submit your own ideas as well.

The important thing to note is that these are just ideas. Some of these are close to making our final cut, and others aren’t… We’d love to hear what you think, to help guide our decision.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your suggestion — I can’t wait to see what you have to say!

Win a 6-Month Tuts+ Premium Membership

Our poll will be running for the next couple of weeks, and we’ll be choosing one respondent at random to receive a six-month Tuts+ Premium membership!

To be entered into the giveaway, just leave a comment on this post to go into a bit more detail about your site suggestion. We’ll choose one comment at random to win the Tuts+ Premium membership when the poll ends.

Best of luck!

I’d love a tuts+ dedicated to all things mapping for web sites, including open source applications like Open Street Map and OpenLayers.

  • Iivo

My vote goes definitely for print design in general; let’s call it InDesignTuts+ for now. :D

Ever since I first started following Envato blogs I’ve always found it kinda odd that this subject doesn’t have it’s own place here. Sure, there are some InDesign and print related topics covered in Vectortuts every now and then but I still see VT+ more for the people how actually draw and work with vector art.

  • Murat

    Non WordPress CMS tuturials!?

  • http://bretglassett.com BretJG

Thanks Envato for continually adding these great sites! As a freelance developer I check them quite often and over the years have learned a lot from the articles!

  • Tyler

    Railstuts+

After doing a simple search on the page for “rails”, I’m a little surprised more people aren’t asking for Rails tutorials!

    • http://forrst.me/ethankr Ethan Kramer

      Agree with Railstuts+

  • Vince

    Math! :)

  • Sjors

    I think ProjectManagementTuts+ would be cool :D

  • http://nveselinov.com Nasi Atanasov

Science is the future! What kind of world would be without science? Science is the sun!
Does art have existed without science? NO! :)
In this sense I am strongly for investment in science. This is a clip that always inspires me when I watch – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYuOKb3gO7E
When you have a stable base when you’re confident and proud of myself and it occurs when you have a quality education. Then every thing and will have to learn very quickly. If you’re a good mathematician, physicist, chemist or similar, for example, it will easily learn to program. We are of the quality personnel who are familiar with the basics. Everything is achieved with hard work and motivation. Remember – nothing is impossible, is difficult but attainable. As and when the basis of something is stable, it would hardly be destroyed.

  • henry

FreelanceTuts+ would be perfect for all those interested in that topic, including me!

  • http://www.nzmarketing.it Nicola

Writing+ would be cool, or maybe something about sysadmin stuff like @Michael Weichert has said.

  • NewBorn

    Drupaltuts+!

    • http://rommelxcastro.com Rommel Castro A

  • http://mifasm.com Mifas

    AndroidTuts+ would be cool.

  • http://www.lakeside.com.np/ Lakeside Techies

We are early awaiting for Productivitytuts+ :)

  • Muhammad Raza Ali Khan

I think seotuts+ and crossbrowsertuts+ should be the next 2 websites for Envato. In this way, web designers would learn more about SEO/SEM tactics and Compatibility issues across different browsers.

Because of the frequent changes in SEO policies and browser versions, it could provide us with extremely helpful articles.

    • Muhammad Raza Ali Khan

Other than the two names I’ve suggested above, I think Video Editing is an area where Envato should really work on. So for this purpose, videoeditingtuts+ would be a better option. Moreover, another website, for Premiere Pro tutorials only, premiereprotuts+ could be launched.

For a general video editing tutorials website, VideEditingTuts+ could be an option to focus on software in general like Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas etc. OR for a dedicated software website, like AeTuts+, you can go for PremiereProTuts+ as there aren’t many quality tutorials available for Premiere Pro on the web.

    • arnold

      yup I agree SEOTUTS+ will be awesome…

      • Mohamed

        yes SEOTuts+ would be great

  • Anne

These are broad topics. Should’ve narrowed to 2-5 selections, and next cycle would be another 2-5 selections.

But anyhoo, I voted for GameDevTuts+

Its the closest to technical/how-to tutorials that the tutsplus network currently have. Besides this, game development is one of the underrated profession nowadays, this would help and enable game dev wannabes learn something and may pave way to another hot job/profession.

  • leison

    FreelanceTuts+ would be good!

  • Adam

gamedevtuts+ I would love to use my background in web development to create HTML5 games.

  • Mohammed Barsi

I think Enterprise Applications Architecture and Programming and LoB (Line of Business) Solutions should be the next tutsplus sibling. for example : J2EE+, or .NET+ or a Big Enterprise+ that contains all kinds of technologies like .NET, J2EE, Objective-C, etc.

  • Thomas

Drawingtuts+ would be nice. Drawing and painting, both digital and traditional.

  • Raluca

Mactuts+ is the best choice for the next website. A lot of developers have a MacBook and Mactuts+ would be veery interesting.

  • http://mrweevil.com vitalix

I think businesstuts is a good idea. All your sites are really interesting and helpful and there is lots of things in the business world that you should write about. Hope you guys will lounch businesstuts :)

  • lcjury

owww, craftuts plz *o*! y realli love crafting, it would be awesome ;)!

  • Jonas Duri

Seriously, craftstuts would be awesome. Everytimes I’m just thinking about looking at some tools i receive major injurys.

  • DADE

My vote goes to GameDev, just because it’s what I’m deeply in right now. :)

  • Tobe

Mathtuts+ because I never paid enough attention in school, and now I’m seriously rusty without my trusty Mac dashboard calculator…

  • http://Www.ag-cd.com Andy Green

Whether you call it freelanceTuts+ or something else, offering business and marketing advice for your creative audiences is a no-brainer. GameDevTuts+ is a natural extension.
EditingTuts+ (or something) for video editors and motion graphic designers would be great (eg. How they did the opening credits for ‘Touch’).

  • Daniel

    I want that 6months prize!

    How bout DjangoTuts?

  • http://www.uxinnovator.com Kenton

I think JSTuts+ would be excellent. The world of JS is evolving so quickly and new frameworks come out on a daily baisis, not to mention all the topics that could be covered when exploring jQuery, Sencha, YUI, Three.JS.

Finally, it could also dive more into Node.JS.

  • http://www.gaurishsharma.com Gaurish Sharma

FreelanceTuts+ – i would like know ins & out of freelancing stuff like finding clients, negotiate contracts, growing etc.

  • mukesh

    mactuts+

  • Ehtesham

Gamedevtuts because there are too many gaming platforms and so there can be too many tutorials about them

  • http://www.donniebrandt.com Donnie

    BusinessTuts.

I think it’s follows the logical progression of learning a skill (from the other Tuts sites) and then make a living from it.

  • Mahdi

Hi please launch a site for learning how to create advertisements like google!!! :)
    (Advertuts+)

  • Joey tanner

Im all for the buisness tuts..
Im bad at all of that and i think you guys would have alot of ideas and stuff to talk about on that

  • http://z4media.com Daniel Moraes

Drawingtuts+ would be great, both digital and tradicional, as someone has said here before me. Focusing on comic book arts, mainly, would make a killing site.

  • Sreejith K

    i hope next site s Gamedevtuts+… mainly for online 3D games :D

  • http://davidpuerto.com David Puerto

IDETuts+ running Eclipse and everything involved in that and how to identify whether to use front-end or back-end technologies, CSS, JavaScript, JSTL, Java in particular situations, etc. I guess DBTuts+ would be rolled into this as well.

  • Jason

PICTuts+, Adruino, AVR, PIC, Microcontroller tutorials. Lets see our design+php work now in live.
Nice and clean tutorials about how we can control the lights from the web etc.

  • http://davidpuerto.com David Puerto

datingTuts+ and militaryTuts+ would be two cool ones for everyone as well. Everyone here should join the service and then reconvene in eight years. Anyone for French Foreign Legion?

  • http://andrewensley.com Andrew Ensley

    SQLtuts+!!

You have so many tutorials about applications that use databases, but very little about design, management, and optimization of those databases.

None of the given options interest me even slightly.

  • Matt L.

Tough choice between Math and GameDev – GameDev would obviously be more popular, but I couldn’t pass up a chance to ask for a quality source of Math tutorials :)

  • http://matiweb.com/ Mati

    Drupaltuts+ ;)

    • http://rommelxcastro.com Rommel

      Drupal Drupal!

    • Mohamed

      +1

  • Jonathan

From your list, business tuts could be very interesting…

From my list I would say … hosting tuts. With more people moving away from shared hosting into vps, some tuts on server setup, management, security etc would be most welcome ;)

  • János

    MathTuts+

    - there are hardly any good web-resources to learn math
    - it would be the first section where i would love to contribute and not only consume

  • http://www.zendigital.com.au Chris

I voted Mac Tuts, but I think your efforts would be better in improving your new premium market. I signed up, but left quite quickly as there was not enough content! But it looks like it has a promising future.
