Which Tuts+ Site Should We Launch Next?

We’re planning our next few Tuts+ sites, and would love your opinion and advice on which topics you think we should cover next! We’d be really grateful if you could take a minute to answer our quick poll and share your thoughts…

Have Your Say

We’ve been considering lots of different ideas for our next Tuts+ sites over the past few weeks, and wanted to also ask the opinion of our awesome community!

A selection of different concepts are included in the poll to the right, along with the option for you to submit your own ideas as well.

The important thing to note is that these are just ideas. Some of these are close to making our final cut, and others aren’t… We’d love to hear what you think, to help guide our decision.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your suggestion — I can’t wait to see what you have to say!

Win a 6-Month Tuts+ Premium Membership

Our poll will be running for the next couple of weeks, and we’ll be choosing one respondent at random to receive a six-month Tuts+ Premium membership!

To be entered into the giveaway, just leave a comment on this post to go into a bit more detail about your site suggestion. We’ll choose one comment at random to win the Tuts+ Premium membership when the poll ends.

Best of luck!

I would choose Mathtuts+ because math is an important part of programming. Even relatively simple programs can use math that a lot of people don’t know, so it is important to know math to understand certain programming topics. Since several of the Tuts+ sites use programming, this will be a great Tuts+ site.

    • vince

      I agree :)

    • http://2816monument.com Mark

I am a huge supporter of this.

  • Adam

the will be grat that You will make a Linux or Windows tuts :)

  • Shad

Something non-tech, like writing, would be interesting – I’d like to see how you all handle something like that…

  • Igor

Gamedevtuts+ also think it would be interesting.

    • http://palpaldal.com Nuruzzaman Sheikh

Agree! Though we’ve some game dev guideline on active.tuts but as it is huge industry so we badly need a gamedev tuts site.

To ace our game development skills. :)

      • Christian

I fully agree. With the way that the video game industry is going these days, it’s not only a viable career option, but is found in everything from computers to phones to televisions, and is only going to grow.

        +1 for Gamedevtuts+

  • Zaid Moreno

Mathtuts sounds like it would be fun and full of useful information.

    • Owl

      Mathtuts FTW!!!

  • http://danwellman.co.uk Dan Wellman

    sciencetuts would be ace :)

I was eagerly waiting for you to enter into Windows software development apart from the
regular web development, i have seen the web services limitation through out my experience
so i designed some of the windows tools.

i would love to see if nettuts can start of with

    VB 2010 + or VB.NET + or .NET + Video tutorials

As always love to be with nettuts :)

  • http://timhillrocks.com Tim

I chose Writingtuts+. I think being to write well is a very important skill to posses for those of us in tech and for everyone else as well. Gamedevtuts+ was a close second.

  • http://blair.rorani.com Blair Rorani

Visual thinking is a killer business skill. Design thinkers and UX people probably use it more than the rest of us. It’s something that is valuable for anyone designing anything or working with clients.

  • http://deeptechtons.com Deeptechtons

Rather than starting new sites , you could start giving chance to people who pitch content to you. A website that will host pitched content, where people are given a chance to see how their article fares well in the internet. Then you can ask them to write articles for nettuplus. This i suggest because almost all of my pitched content get rejected or i don’t even know if it reaches you

  • nabil

Freelancetuts is a good site because it include jobs or any competition where designers and developers can contribute. It should include a group of individuals from around the world not from the same company. And each should be given a fair chance so that their creativity and ideas may improve

  • http://toki-webdesign.com Toki

    What about SEOtuts+?

  • Richard Cochrane

I’m in favour of something like LeadershipTuts since it would complete the programming picture. I love all the dev tuts available but I don’t really see much about leading dev teams (although, it could be most useful looking at leading ALL kinds of teams). I use “leading” instead of “managing” since that’s what good managers should be doing – leading. Just managing a team and not getting fired seems to be (from my experience) easy enough. Getting the team to gel and perform like a team of rock-stars…. that’s more tricky.

Having read Peopleware, Mythical Man Month, Joel (Spolsky) on Software, etc., I think a lot of people just don’t know many of the problems that sheer experience gives in managing developers (and from the developer perspective, working in teams together and being led in one direction). I’m certainly no expert myself but I’ve seen my fair share of Management Fails.

Useful topics could include areas like:
    - Managing client expectations
    - Getting the team back to the timeline
    - Communication issues
    - etc.

I thought freelancetuts would be good but you’ve already got freelance switch so then I thought mactuts would be cool.

  • http://wlsn.org Adam Wilson

Definitely GameDevTuts. I would probably resubscribe if you added this.

  • erico

    gamedevtuts+ for pragmatic reasons.

  • Mat

gamedevtuts+ it would be something great

  • cool

i think something like linuxtuts+ or opensourcetuts+ would be very awesome because you can’t find it every where and it would be amazing for open source community and even people that don’t know so much about this things…

and also freelancetuts+ sounds good :)

  • http://www.yovanverma.daportfolio.com Yovan Verma

It would be great if there is a tuts+ site for art.

  • http://pinaysexygoddess.blogspot.com Pinay Sexy Goddess

how about SEOtuts? I would love to see that.

    • mit_India

yes u r rite .. m a developer but i too love SEO and doing SEO .. great idea

  • http://ernes7a.lt Ernesta

Mactuts – Mac programming is both an exciting and promising area. The mac App Store is relatively new, and so the ecosystem is not overcrowded with a ton of apps for each and every purpose. There’s still a ton to be done, but for a good app, knowing just Objective-C is not enough. What about full screens, Mountain Lion notifications, or anti-piracy measures? I’d kill for Mactuts.

  • Vytautas

Definately math tuts! Is there any wa to see the poll results?

  • http://Alexbrownwebdesign.com Alex

Freelancetuts+ would be awesome for someone like myself just breaking in to freelancing and havent been around long enough to learn lessons by experiencing them

  • Forrest

I chose GameDevTuts+ because I have recently been getting interested in game dev. There aren’t any tutorials I have found that live up to the standard of the tuts+ network. I would love to see some really solid tutorials done on the subject.

  • http://www.designbyniall.com Niall

I’d say eCommercetuts+ would be a good start. Not too many decent articles or sites around for eCommerce development.

  • http://integrativelinks.com Ali Nass

I think Servertuts+ would be a great idea. This would help so many professional who works in the IT enterprise industry where free resources & tutorials are fairly limited.

  • Ben

I think GameDev tuts plus would fit best with the theme of the network, and would have the broadest appeal to developers and designers that the network seems to cater to.

  • Martin Genev

I think financetuts+ will be the most beneficial, many people are learning about finance from many scattered resources. someone mentioned SEO tuts, that would be awesome as well as social media marketing tuts

  • Lucija Hilje

Productivity tuts+. Why? For obvious reasons, to procrastinate while reading on how not to waste time :D

  • Jessica

I would like a combination between Freelancetuts and Businesstuts for there are many sites that showcase jobs etc etc but not many are on the more business side of freelancing. If you are a lone freelancer, there are a number of things that are missed or unclear (ex. taxes). Plus a lot of design schools tend to gloss over the business side of things.

  • John

    sexTuts+

    • David

      It would be great :P

  • Ian Heller

I chose writingtuts because no skill is more important than effective communication. If you want to be taken seriously, writing is the number one skill to possess. It only takes one grammatical error to turn me off.

  • leo rapirap

I am pretty sure many would be happy if you guys launch DrupalTuts+ :)

  • http://facebook.com/TIGERdesign TIGERdesign

    Printtuts+
all about InDesign, and print design, there is a lot to talk about: prepare, concept, design, choosing the right color combination, size, handling the delivery files..etc.
there is a lot of things that can make this new site interesting.
for example: having a concept to design is never enough, to make it in the best way you need to know about the technique of printing and some Art so you can choose the correct colors, the correct size..etc

  • Ivan

    “Gamedevtuts+” would be awesome

  • http://digitalpixels.co.uk Glynn Alexander

I think the next issue is marketing and seo so, Martetingtuts+ would be cool, ways to market your site on the internet for free for example, especially in light of the current financial state.

  • Rob

    iOS!

  • http://www.d2webdesigns.com Dennis

I would love to see something like webresellers tut….
I’m relatively new to web reselling and would LOVE to know more about it and about better ways to take advantage of it.

  • Oren

    I have a couple:
    1. CloudTuts, do I need to add something regarding this field…
    2. FramewrokTuts or FrameTuts for frameworks, because many times the learning curve is very steep in the begging when it comes to different frameworks out there.
    3. DBTuts, DataStorageTuts, in conjunction with all the relevant issues it concerns with: reporting, analytics, design, scalability etc. very, very interesting…
    4. ITTuts, as I encounter more and more IT people that don’t know really important stuff about their jobs.

  • http://www.magentix.be/ Kristiaan Van den Eynde

Would vote for Drupaltuts+, but the poll’s closed :(

I’m a passionate Drupalista myself, so if Drupaltuts+ makes it, I could perhaps contribute occasionally.

  • Gurpreet Gill

drupaltuts+ would be a great idea

  • Marcin

I think a Mathtuts+ would be absolutely brilliant, especially if they encompassed guides to how you could utilize your new found skills in games and graphic heavy applications.

  • http://www.self-learner.com Eric

Servertuts+/UNIXtuts+ would nicely complement all the web development stuff.

  • http://www.a-byte-btter.net Philipp

I think one of the following would be nice:

    - Server-tuts
    - GameDev-tuts
    - WebGL-tuts
    - Marketing-tuts

  • kareem

How about Javatuts :) seems to be cool.

  • http://www.studioultimate.com Avinash

    Has to be javascript !

  • http://www.cre8itrite.com/ Alex

I think there should be a SEOtuts and MobileDEVtuts for sure since there is such a high demand for Mobile development.

  • Thiago

Mathtuts+ and gamedevtuts+ would be absolutely great!

  • DADE

So, when the results will be? I gave my vote for gamedevtuts+ :)

  • koala

    MobileDEVtutsand CloudTuts would be nice
