Yeah, and I’m purposely NOT clicking on your shameless links.

( )Daphne March 30th
Which would be the best / easist one to use to extend a wysiwyg editor such as MCE?
( )abhijit March 30th
OK…. nice. But hey give us some nice tutorials rather than just lists of resources etc.
( )Yoosuf March 30th

( )Abhijit March 30th

Daphne March 30th
Perhaps a really good tutorial would be one covering the art of link baiting!
“Tut, tut, child! … Everything’s got a moral, if only you can find it”
( )Lewis Carroll.
insic March 30th
its quite a list. 50? I only know less than 10 in the list. i better check the other.
( )saurabh shah March 30th
Agree with Insic.. quite a huge and nice list … have to check other galleries… thanks for the nice post ..
( )Sebish March 30th
Thanks for the list, I will have to check a few of these out!
I know its not really important, but for us lazy people around it might be worth while in future articles to have a direct link to a demo on the same page without having to go to the website first. Just my two cents.. Thanks again
@redwall_hp … and that’s why you don’t write “First”… sigh..
( )crysfel March 30th
Thanks for the collection!!
( )Jarryd March 30th

( )Jocke March 30th
Great collection, personally I almost exclusively use NextGen at the moment. But to the next couple projects I will have a look on some of the rest galleries..
( )Rahul Chowdhury March 30th
This is just great. I liked it. Great List Dude!
( )Koistya `Navin March 31st
Great collectin. Thanks.
( )Macbook Dreamer March 31st
I think it would be better if you could pick out a couple of them and write tutorials on how they could be implemented, it’s really pointless to post 50 scripts, it would have been better if we had to choose between only a couple.
( )spirit March 31st
Really nice round-up!
Have a look to Picsviewr (http://www.picsviewr.com). It uses several of them to fetch photos from a Flickr user.
( )Patternhead March 31st
Nice list but there are tons of sites doing these already. Lets get back to the thing that makes tuts great, more tutorials please
( )Hezi March 31st

And I’ve used it in one of our sites here at http://artu.in/gallery/gallery.php
( )max March 31st

http://www.maxb.net/scripts/jbgallery/
( )Nikola March 31st
This is just great. I liked it. THX
( )Andris March 31st
That’s one huge list. I have to check some of those I don’t know yet.
( )Kim March 31st
If you really feel you HAVE to do all these lists all the time, insted of concentration on the tutorials, that your name promises, could you at least put a little more work in to it?
( )Add some comments about each offering, list som pros and cons for each. In short: Put in something that makes it your post, rather than just trying to score money by listing other peoples work.
If you feel it’s too much work to try out 50 galleries, then make the lists shorter, and only list the ones You actually feel you can recommend!
Shane March 31st
I know another site that listed 51 Image Galleries. It was called ‘51 Brilliant Image Galleries’.
Excuse my rather flippant comment. At some point, these lists get too much
( )Dainis Graveris March 31st
I created one a while ago too, although here I see a little bit different selection.

( )arif March 31st

( )Creamy CSS gallery March 31st
Wow, really helpful list of best galleries on the web,.. Thanks for hard work, Glen!
( )Igor / vellkan March 31st
Excellent job!
( )It’s really helpfull, but I think You should add one more.
http://www.twospy.com/galleriffic
It’s really good gallery based on jQuery with multiple options.
Brett March 31st
I would add Picasa to the list.
http://picasa.google.com/
It easy to sync galleries to the web so updating is as simple as adding pictures to a folder on you own desktop, it also has an RSS feed so the skys the limit really with what you can do. This option is very similar to your Flikr + CakePHP.
Here is a link on how to parse the Picasa Feed
( )http://code.lawpower.net/2008/01/21/picasa-gallery-googles-cruel-rss-feed/
Diego SA March 31st
WOW!
( )Alex March 31st
How about a tut on creating your own image gallery, rather than a list of em?
( )Sirwan March 31st
Is there a gallery that can intergate into Wordpress and at the same time allow all users to upload to it.
( )Brett March 31st
How many users do want to be able to add images to the gallery?
( )Sirwan March 31st
all the registered users… so the gallery can be “user based” rather than just have editors and admins upload images.
Alex Wilson March 31st
Very happy to see ZenPhoto here. It’s a great gallery, and a great framework if you want to tweak it. I was able to add jCarousel and Galleria functionality to my art photography gallery:
libeco March 31st
I miss another gallery which has been around for years: 4images http://www.4homepages.de/ . I haven’t used it in a while, but I know installing and themeing it was far easier than coppermine and gallery2.
I also think this list should be split up. I think there’s a big difference between a photoblog (pixelpost) and a gallery (gallery2). Other than that, it’s a great list!
Oh, nearly forogot, I use Drupal (with some modules) as a photoblog/gallery, works very good for me…
( )MATT. March 31st
Galleriffic is the best imo, and it’s a jQuery plugin!
( )Randy March 31st
Thanks, finally one place to find them all!
( )Jeff Adams March 31st
Wow – this is pretty darn good thanks!
I particularly like the look of Zen Photo cos i can imagine tweaking it with a lightbox rather than linkig to the photo itself. Nice.
( )Webdesigner Depot March 31st
Beautiful collection, thanks….
( )Paul Morales March 31st
Thanks for the great collection
awesome. Stumbled!
( )Phelan Riessen March 31st
Stumbled and bookmarked!
Seriously, I’ve searched and researched for hours looking for decent but flexible photo and image galleries. There’s a ton out there but they never seem to have all the components needed for my web clients. This list will help save some serious time. Post #1 Gallery is awesome.
Thanks for the post.
( )Ricardo April 1st
Great List! Thanks, way better than searching for all of them!
( )h-a-r-v April 1st
This one has just been realeased:
http://www.thesoul75.de/anipan/index.html (for mootools 1.2) – it’s inspired by Wii Photobrowser.
There is much more, like.. Phatfusion Multibox (yet to come for the newest mootools – there are working clones though – but it’s definetely most powerful ligthbox for this framework – it handles everything – see on http://www.phatfusion.net ). Uvumi Gallery is also worth checking, it has a pretty unique interface ( http://tools.uvumi.com/gallery.html ).
( )jone April 1st
thanks
( )Sharon April 1st
I’ve never done much with photogalleries so this list will give some research starting points!
I am looking for a gallery that you can upload photos to easily (for non-techie person) poss by web interface or similar but can also be password protected as the photos are of children.
Any suggestions about which ones I should look into first?

Hello, I love this gallery/showcase of galleries! Except I have one problem, there is a gallery i liked that was basically, you have a picture, and when you click on it, it opens in the center of your web browser, dims everything into the background and shows a zoomed/full size picture. Can anyone point me in the right location here?

( )Mohammed Helewa April 12th
good job Glen,,
i loved the Lightview gallery, i am working with long time ago, the power
of this gallery is not in viewing images only. i and my friend Khalid are using it
to view add and edit forms in websites, the power in this usage is that you can
manage all tasks from one and only one page, i mean that if there is a page
listing all accounts you can add a link to add new account which open the
add form in the lightview and when add button pressed the refresh made on
the parent page (the page listing all accounts). and the same for edit.
thanks again Glen

I’ve been using this one from Invent Media. http://www.inventmedia.com.au/downloads.html
Requires no flash or action script programming and reads the image paths from an xml file. I literally cut and paste the code into my site and had it working in about 30 seconds. It’s nice and slick and has cool full screen and zoom controls.

I am struggling at moment trying to find which image I can either freely use or put in Photo Courtesy of or just the ones to steer clear of. Been on creative commons but when put in the search ones to use for commercial reasons the list comes back with garbage images. Can someone give me an idea of a good place to go?
