Showcase of Inspiring “About Me” Pages

Showcase of Inspiring “About Me” Pages

A creative about me page will attract a reader’s attention, and, more importantly, provide them with a quick sampling of what you or your company represents. Are you playful, stylish, corporate? All of this should be conveyed to your web site’s visitors.

I have collected some of the best creative and unique “about me” pages available.

  • Abhijit

OK, thanks – good list. Not really a tutorial though!

  • Gustaf

This is not a tutorial. Shame on you!

    • John

dude, Nettuts is not all about tutorials.. Most of it are.. But a post like this one helps a lot in sharing information among designers and developers alike.. You can also learn technical stuff by reading this kind of posts..

  • Caio

Not really the purpose of this website, but it’s a good read.

  • http://peterbenoit.com Peter Benoit

You seem to have Grandpeople and StruckAxiom backwards.

    • http://www.ssiddharth.com Siddharth

      Fixed, thanks!

  • http://thomasv.nl ThomasV

StruckAxiom and Grandpeople are switched ;)… and indeed, it’s not really a tutorial so wouldn’t it be better if this would be put on webdesign.tutsplus or something?

  • http://kevinvs.net Kevin(vs.net) Kelly

I don’t see why this is such a bad idea. Perhaps it is a tutorial telling you what NOT to do inorder to “stand out”. Rightfully so, too.

  • Edward Longman

    I totally love this one,
    http://timvandamme.com/

  • Jordan

Guys, it’s not supposed to be a tutorial. I agree that it might perhaps be better suited for webdesign.tutsplus, but look on in the earlier pages of nettuts – there’s plenty of older design-based articles/tuts here.

Again, though – NOT a tutorial. Says right at the top: “Web Roundup”. =]

    • http://wpjutsu.com Lee Shin

I agree. Not every article has to be a tutorial. We need some inspiration from time to time and catch up with the new trends of web design. Great post! Thanks for collecting this.

  • http://www.BlaineSch.com BlaineSch

I guess it’s all opinion, however “Grip Limited” didn’t even make it to a “okay” spot on my list. It’s horribly ugly, not even decent!

  • Amanda

The BuzzChips one is nice, not what I expected!

  • http://stumphafe.com Tumelo

This is quiet an interesting article, it is quite Inspirational, Its articles like this one that help us as developers and designers define beauty. Blaine, however true that may be, at least it helps realize and set the difference in terms of standards and expectation

  • http://www.mylescreative.net Myles Steyn

    Interesting read, Some nice work!

  • http://mikehigginbottom.com Mike Higginbottom

Some lovely, lovely work showcased there and while I agree that it’s not explicitly a tutorial it’s definitely a truism that the best way to learn is to mix it up. Sometimes you need to slavishly follow a tut, sometimes you need to let fly and go crazy on the Wacom, sometimes you need to sit cross-legged in silence by the side of the ocean and sometimes you just need to soak in the work that others are doing. All part of the rich tapestry…

  • w1sh

Anyone else notice that Google Galaxy ripoff?

There was another site that did that exact same thing (spaceship starting from bottom – localscrolls up for each section) except it’s graphics weren’t as detailed… Anyone know what I’m talking about?

  • Dave

Not inspiring at all. “About” pages have been around since the 90′s, and I have seen far better than these. These seem like a bunch of crappy marketing.

  • http://ibnmalik.net ibnmalik

the tutorial is not only “how to make …”
i think the inspiration above can be good trigger to make something better… :)

  • arnold

this should be on webdesign tuts …

    come on guys…
I mean there are hundreds of article that talk about “Showcase of inspiring X pages”

  • arnold

    damn “Listicle”

  • Vamsi

Good post, but I think we have smashing magazine for covering this kind of tutorials ?

  • http://inspirationfeed.com inspirationfeed

    I love the first one!

  • John

Thanks for this list. Loved the idea of cool about me pages.

  • http://veodesign.com vervex

Thanks for sharing. Those pages are truly inspiring! There should be more of these inspirational articles around here :)

  • Mike

I like this one, is so minimal =P http://www.carlosespitia.com

  • http://www.redniitas.com Satinder

    Hi,
I tried my wits to create a ‘About Me’ page.. check it at http://redniitas.com/about-redniitas-2/ :)

  • Alexander

    Score one for http://www.mariecatribs.com/

Great food and now great website.

  • http://inadcod.com Daniel

Nice collection. I would like to add my own page, if I may: http://inadcod.com/about.html

  • http://www.dawntwist.com Dawn

No, it isn’t a tutorial, but I’m betting this isn’t the only blog to write topics outside the scope of the purpose of the website. It’s a good post, and great to read an article stepping away from tutorials for a change of scenery.

  • http://adastarinformatics.com Jean

    Hi,

We just launched our website redesign last week and we would like to share our About page here: http://adastarinformatics.com/about.shtml

Hope you like it. Feedbacks are welcome. :)

Fuel brand’s about me is neat and sexy, I liked the larkef too. The top two comments are funny..made my day.

  • http://www.cartondonofriopartners.com KC Hunter

Yeah so not a tutorial but it’s great to see other agencies/shops that I usually don’t look at. Lots of great work out there, and then some really over-the-top “stylish” crap that doesn’t work when you go to the page.

Kudos for the agencies that can make beautiful sites and apps WHILE having them actually work.
