Our 1 Year Anniversary, and a Huge Competition
Believe it or not, we are rapidly approaching our one-year anniversary! What better way to celebrate than to raffle off some prizes and host our biggest competition yet? Most notably, we have a $2000 RAGE server to award, courtesy of Media Temple! This is a competition you don’t want to miss out on!
The Competition
I want you to create the most fantastic ThemeForest template you’re capable of. We’ll be choosing the five best submissions between now and April 21 (anniversary). You’re free to submit a sleek HTML/CSS website, WordPress template, or a complete Joomla site!

How Many Sales Will I Make on ThemeForest?

How Do I Enter?
- Create a unique template (HTML/CSS, WordPress, Joomla, or Miscellaneous Category)
- Submit it to ThemeForest
- Once the template has been approved, email nettutsblog@gmail.com and include a link to your item. When you do so, enter “Anniversary Competition” as the “subject”.
- On April 21, the winners will be announced!
How Will the Winners Be Chosen?
The judges and I will be asking ourselves the following questions when choosing the winners.
- Is this item aesthetically pleasing?
- Has it been coded well? Does it follow best practices.
- Is it marketable? We’re looking for fantastic templates that will prove to profitable for both you and us. Will this item appeal to the masses?
- Does it stand out among other similar templates? Is it unique?
Terms and Conditions
- You WILL NOT be entered into the competition unless you email nettutsblog@gmail.com with a link to your template, after it’s been accepted.
- Entry is open to any reader who is NOT a paid staff member.
- Any approved file uploaded between NOW and 11:59PM April 20, 2009 (Central Standard Time) is eligible.
- Prizes will be awarded to the winners within a maximum of thirty days.
- The five winners will be selected solely at the discretion of Nettuts+ and its staff.
- All decisions are final.

Don’t insult others
It’s a reasonable thing to comment about, considering I would assume a moderate portion of the users of this site only touch Windows when they have to bug test in Internet Explorer.
Granted, the same could be said about a Mootools or Prototype/Scriptaculous developer getting books about jQuery.
All of the prizes are not going to satisfy everyone. Mike is apparently one of those people.

In what way is that stupid? What is the point of a competition where one of the main prizes is only for windows users? 95% of the designers/developers I know work exclusively on Mac or Linux.

Love MediaTemple as well, they’ve had a few hiccups here and there but overall their service and support is second to none.

This is VERY enticing. One question, though: Once our 2 years is up with the Rage server, would we then have to continue paying $100 to Media Temple to keep it going, or I guess downgrade to the $50/month server (which is what I have now)?

Yeah – after the two years, you’d be responsible for the monthly payment. But, you’d, of course, be free to downgrade – or cancel your plan.

What happens to the designs submitted as entries for the contest? they remain property of the designer, right?
From your comments, I assume you will be judging the design and XHTML+CSS rather than a, for example, WordPress implementation? I mean, judging a Joomla implementation would be quite different than a WordPress implementation, and a Joomla theme must met a lot more requirements than a WP theme.
From what I gather, you still get normal profit from your submission. I believe under their user contract, they don’t allow you to retract a template once it’s put onto their website.

When you sign up for a ThemeForest account (free, of course), you’ll start out with a 40% cut on each sale.
Great competition, im sure there will be some stiff competition though. By the way on psdtuts the advertising banner obscures the drop down menu, its incredibly annoying.
