Microsoft is making some bold claims with the release of Internet Explorer 9 Beta. They explain that other browsers, unlike IE9 Beta, only use 10% of your PC's capabilities; they show how websites will be streamlined and work faster by taking advantage of your graphics processing unit (GPU), and how a range of new features will provide a richer experience when combined with Windows 7.

Today, we will be looking at what new features IE9 Beta has to offer, and how it performs when bench-marked against Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera.

    Packt Publishing recently sent me a review copy of “WordPress 2.7 Cookbook.” I’m a huge fan of the cookbook line; they’re similar to a huge string of quick tips. So if you don’t have time to read for an hour straight, you can always pick up a web dev cookbook and learn a few neat techniques within minutes.

    WordPress 2.7 Cookbook is no different, and though it’s more of a quick reference book, rather than one that you would traditionally read front-to-back, I still found myself devouring the pages within a day or so.

    A couple weeks ago, I received an email from Chris Coyier, of CSS-Tricks, containing a review copy of his recently released “Digging into WordPress” e-book. Expecting it to be more of a mini-book, I nonchalantly told him that I’d post a review that Friday; little did I know that this was a full-fledged book, packed full of knowledge.

    We’re rolling out a new sub-category on Nettuts+: reviews. Sporadically, when a new book or piece of software is released, either myself or one of our writers will write a review detailing the pros and cons.

    A couple weeks ago, Packt Publishing sent me a copy of the recently released “WordPress 2.7 Complete.” Though the platform has already moved on to 2.8, I was still quite pleased with the final product.
