When you use span-24 or span-8, that doesn't mean anything to me or another developer who is going to work on this a year later. I don't think anyone would remember what span-8 means in a few months. I really prefer to use names for things and so I would at least use something like width400 or sidebar280 and so on. That would make it easier to identify what you need to edit/use. The only thing I can use from the blueprint is css for forms/tables and maybe some of the reset rules. Other than that, I'd much rather make my own (which I have) and use it for my projects.
