To Shane Sponagle, you rock. Kudos to you. I was able to build a small site with this tutorial. Amazing it seems.

Thank you very much.

Awesome and very handytute as used by someone who needed a real quick primer on using MODx. I set it up using xampp and gave it a whirl.

Thanks for that - saved me the hours I didn't have in poring over other manuals and wiki's finding the bits i needed to know. Almost all of which you covered.

Shane, how easy is it to add the following in MODx:

- Calendar of events
- master / detail modules for example for "meet the team"
- News system

Are there any pre-programmed modules one can activate or install as plug-in?

well maybe Modx is architecturally better than Joomla, Drupal, etc, but having used the admin manager I would have to say it seems to be more focussed on being a website templating manager than a CMS.

Flexibility thru simplicity is fine, but give me a nice tabular layout so that I can see the true site layout and key content attributes at a glance - oh but you hate tables, dont you ;-)

until "Ease of Use" replaces "Web 2.0" and all the other fanboy buzzwords I think it will remain a niche product for the techos
