nice - but if using snippets and chunks would be that easy, we'd be flooded by new websites. Truth is, they aren't unless you are an experienced coder.

Sure, for a basic - boring as - website, this and mods' tutorials are great.

And one more - the modx forum community is just as useless as most other forums, merely a content provider for Google. But then again, it's free, too, isn't it?

Well,

It's not really a "principle" of tabular data or not, MODx don't impose any markup.

If you want to call your sidebar class sidebar you can, but i rather like to call it aside so do i.

That's really powerful when you actually know what you're doing with HTML+CSS. Don't need to focus on XXX mandatory class, id's or behaviour, just use you're original code as it is.

Now, if you're not a front end develloper, a user without technical knowledge, a developper who don't want to mess with HTML and above all, if you don't want/need learn something new & exiting, MODx is definitively not for you.

Wish this tutorial existed before i built my first site with ModX!
I had been doing the rounds of different CMS such as Joomla! Drupal and most of the smaller ones when I came across ModX. Actually i saw the name first on the Drupal discussions when someone was pointing out to Drupal designers the modX features they could consider for Drupal.
I hope ModX is used by more and more people and your tutorial is a great contribution.

To Shane Sponagle, you rock. Kudos to you. I was able to build a small site with this tutorial. Amazing it seems.

Thank you very much.

Awesome and very handytute as used by someone who needed a real quick primer on using MODx. I set it up using xampp and gave it a whirl.

Thanks for that - saved me the hours I didn't have in poring over other manuals and wiki's finding the bits i needed to know. Almost all of which you covered.
