Seems like half the people here want to talk about the tutorial and the other half want to talk about other simple CMS. Since this post was written I've come across a bunch of "Simple" CMS PageLime and Surreal seem to be the only true CushyCMS competitors. This tutorial would be much shorter with either one of them. I've tested them both out pretty thoroughly. Surreal is oooook with its gagillion languages, but it's not quite at the level of PageLime.

I was a Cushy subscriber for almost a year, when they stopped updating, and their support fell off (probably cuz they were busy redesigning RetailMeNot.com which is awesome) I started looking for a new simple CMS solution. I've now switched to PageLime, they update constantly, Tom and Emil are always around to answer emails/tweet (nerdaly so!). Not saying they are the best choice for everything, but Cushy is no longer the right choice for anything.
